Down loading ARMA II and Operation Arrowhead. Will install dayZ after that. Need help with some training. Whats the best way to start out?

Suggested video settings?

Go out into the world, learn zombie movements, use walk, crouch and prone judiciously. Try and survive, goto the day z wiki and get used to that map on a second monitor... use the team speak and you will be looting with the best soon enough!

I'm guessing you will LOVE this game. Takes a while to "break in" so to speak, but after you get geared up and start rolling with a group there is an unmatched level of intensity. Yeah it has its slow boring moments too, but you decide how you want to play it for the most part.

PS, the hardest part for me when i was starting out, was understanding the active inventory and back pack space, here is a good video on inventory management. It will save you the grief of glitching a primary or pistol into the abyss.

Another key is to start out on low population servers. If you go into a server that is 48/50 you are most likely going to die many times before you start getting the hang of the game. Instead go into a server that is 15/50 or somewhere around there and start fucking around with zombies and finding loot.

Use this map to find enterable buildings. You will probably not need to go into any Industrial buildings as those you will only find vehicle loot inside. I completely get rid of "Low" loot icons and stick to searching "Medium and High" loot buildings. (Except Military, keep "low" on) Places you'll definitely want to search are Hospitals, grocery stores, fire stations, any military spawns and "High" Residential spawns. You can find everything you need in those loot locations. (Hospitals and grocery stores have their own map icon.)

So far I cant even get the damn thing to load. Something about serial number. Whats this six updater stuff? I am freaking lost. Guess I will work on it when I have time.
