For New Players to TPG, PLEASE READ!

Hey all, I'm not new to TPG, but I am new to DayZ. I bought Arma II over the holiday when it was on sale and I'm extremely interested in checking out DayZ (though I don't have nearly as much time as I would like to play games at all lately). Many of you know me from Counter-Strike, or from the political forums where I have posted often.

At any rate, I'll be jumping in some time soon to check this thing out. I have to admit I'm pretty intimidated by what I've seen regarding the game. Playing with friends is going to be important, so hello friends!! :-)

Laz, make sure you download DayZ Commander, it does a lot of the work for you, making installation and updating simple.

Welcome Friend! If you got Free Time at Work, or while shopping with the wife, Check out DayZ YouTube Videos, They are entertaining and a Huge Help, Also Play some of the SP missions in Regular Arma:OA, They help too. Lastly Don't Listen to anything SmokenSherriff tells you, and if he gets accidentally shot, its Karma.

I installed on steam, how do I make Dayz commander work? It's not seeing my install, even after changing settings for steam.

Did you get Operation Arrowhead? the A2 expansion needed to play Dayz?

Did you download it?

Well, once you have go to the tab where it says "Install/Update" on the top right corner and download the latest DayZ and also if you want custom maps you do the same.

IIRC, you have to run both Arma II and OA to enable them; set things up. Been quite a while for me tho.

I think I figured it out. The commander's interface was just confusing. It seemed to indicate I didn't have ARMA installed... But I guess it just meant it didn't see the version it needed to be able to play. I clicked install on everything and it seemed to work fine.

Most excellent. I plan to be on later this evening. Most likely on Billy Maze Panthera, but i might go for some nemalsk. I also started up on a Lingor server as well.
