A Warriors Death
I started a new character this morning and wandered around the coast searching for food and drink but only found a hatchet in a shed and one can of beans on the corpse of a fallen comrade. Stumbling onto the airfield just west of Chernogorsk I searched every building in sight and found no drink and no weapons, only bodies. Already down on blood from zombie attacks in a previous town and in dire need of something to quench my thirst I headed toward a small house by the road. Four zombies guarded the house like wild beasts guarding a fresh kill. I was sneaking through the grass toward the house to search for anything that would keep me alive long enough to get into Cherno, dodge the bandit gunfire and find a safe place to use as a base of operations while I scavenge weapons and supplies, when one of the foul creatures sees me and rushes forward so I stand, raise my ax and bury it into the monsters skull. This action alerted the other three and I knew at that moment I had made a mistake with severe consequences. I stepped back trying to avoid being surrounded and fought back the tide of clawing fingers and blood stained teeth. By the end my wounds were bleeding vigorously and the single bandage I had scavenged from a town down the road, stopped the bleeding at 5000 blood. I continued toward Chernogorsk, which I had decided would most likely be my final resting place. Walking beside the road between the beautiful rolling hills to the north and the vast seemingly endless sea to the south, I sat and thought of the bandits sitting on piles of food, water and ammunition. The image disgusted me for I had been repeatedly attacked and killed for no reason by these selfish dogs, shot dead while unarmed and trying to pass through a town just looking for food or maybe a tent so I wouldn't have to sleep in the rain through the night.. My rest by the sea was abruptly halted by two zombies that had seen me and were closing the space between us fast. By the time I stood and drew my weapon they were already slashing at me with their dirty claws. Again I raised my ax and brought down several heavy blows on them before they finally fell to the ground dead.. again. Rapidly losing blood and on the verge of dying of dehydration, I began running for the city. Along the road were several zombies that were quickly put to an end by my ax. It would either be a slow death, cowering in a corner staining the floor with blood and slowly dying of dehydration, or a glorious death bringing end to as many of the monsters that had put me in that shitty situation. I chose the latter of the two options and charged into the city. 13-.. 14-.. 15 zombies down. It's almost over. I turn a corner and a blurry figure of a man crumples under the mighty swing of my ax. I look down and on the body of the slain monster is one can of pepsi to quench my thirst before death but, as i crack the seal and bring it to my lips, before the first drop of the refreshing liquid reaches my tongue, around the corner turns a tall figure in green garb, puts a gun to my head and sprays my brain across the ground..
