When it gets to the point where the game centers around a community and keeping the community alive and well, then I'll happily get it. I'd love to go on scouting parties for meds, food, water, or whatever for the benefit of the group. While a small group stays home to watch for zombies or other people trying to steal our stuff.

But as the game is right now, once you get your stuff, then what? Then its taking chances on going to a new place, but I can only do that for so long until I get bored of there being no reason other than the thrill of the hunt.

That thrill makes it all totally worth it.

I can totally see that being fun, but I also see myself getting bored with it in the same way I get bored with L4D2 after two games, or cs:s after X amounts of maps.

Well i bougt ARMA II+ All the expansions just for Day Z,i never have played ARMA before. If they release the game tommorow and charge 50€ for it i will buy it right away. It is different than other games and after you have been to all the places on 212km map, different aproach to the game will get you excited.
We were together on a server couplle nights ago lots a TPG members all in TS. Salty got killed when reconing the downed chopper in the midle of the field. By the time we all gathered he was been sniped from far away somewhere from the woods. We spent like 20 minutes hiding and trying to get the sniper who shot him. When i sugested that i move to the chopper to try to lure the sniper out, so that our team can pinpoint his location .
So when i moved to the open fields knowing that whole team was watching my back from all directions i say that were some intense moments as i was expecting the shot any time.
it is a game but when you expect the shot it could really make your heart beat faster. I was not killed and we succesfully looted the chopper.
Later on our group was masacred by another team ,but that is a different story.

Moral of the story is : It is worth the 30$ only to play this mod you will not be dissapointed. Despite all the glitches ,bugs ,hackers as said above it is still one of the better games available to play at the moment.

DayZ is unlike just about any other game in that when you die, you are dead dead. You respawn on the coast, somewhere, with a bandage and flashlight. That's it. By far one of the biggest "Oh F&#K!!" moments you will ever experience in a game. That makes dangerous situations sooo much more suspenseful.

If you are with friends and they survive, they can grab one or two of your choice items; but that's a big if quite often.
