It's how the simulator is set up, to map Real places. as accurately as possible, to train real armies.

Im not sure about other locals in the ArmA series, but Chernarus incorporates real locations into the map.

Google map Malsovice in the Czech republic, that is Berezino in Chernarus. From there its easy to find Dubrovka, Polana, Groka, Novy and Stary Sobor, Krasnostav and more.... even prominent land features like Dubina hill, Molinevka and Lesnoy Krebhet are there ( Especially Adams favorite locale, Pik Koslovo ) The real life counter parts of Chernogorsk and Electrovadsk are pretty major cities, thus they have been parsed down quite a bit in game, but most of the smaller rural towns do closely resemble their in game version.
