    Re: I am done here

I have read all the accounts of the incident, and do not think there was any ghosting. I also don't think we need to limit the group size on TS. The game changes very quickly based on who is on and how many are on, add in the fact that the map is small with numerous High target areas and you are going to get much more player contact. The first engagement with KB by War/Merritt is not what appears to have really pissed KB off, rather it was that after KB killed War there appears to have been cross channel comms to the effect that KB was pissed which lead Merritt to drop down and engage in an argument with KB. Following this interaction, Merritt left the channel and proceeded to kill KB - at this point KB and Merritt both knew the other was there, however, KB apparently viewed the conversation as resulting in a truce/armistice while Merritt was still engaging.

IMO - ghosting given these facts would have gone something like this: KB announces he is at X location in a group channel, Merritt bounces channels and immediately moves to engage KB at said location, either with help or not. That being said, every player should protect themselves and the biggest part of protecting yourself is controlling who knows where you are. A big part of the game, is the fluid nature of the engagements and the random 'teams' it makes for the night. For those who don't play, a 'night' almost always includes multiple layers based primarily on the server pop - let me explain. Early or late when the pop is low it is not unusual for all the players on the server to be in the same channel shooting the shit, they may all be in the same area or spread out all over hell, this stage normally involves players farming/repairing and the general understanding is that players will not engage each other. Many players announce their general location to avoid being shot at, sometimes players in the same area will 'team-up' and jointly farm an area. This generally works well with little or no problem.

Now when the server pop starts to grow, or when you get new players joining who go straight to a separate channel, the game has instantly changed. At this point of the night, the big TS channel usually starts to splinter. Smart players move, or take other precautions, not so much because of a concern for ghosting, but rather that I am now not confident in the security of the area because I can't rely on the fact that 'the entire server' is in the same TS channel. This cycle of building big groups and them splintering happens several times a night, based primarily on server pop.

Let me give you another example from last night. I get on, and about 4 TS channels are being used. I hop in with Raith for a min, he's playing ARMA3 I'm in Dayz we chat for a few minutes while I'm running in game. I drop down after a bit joining on sly and sourceskills, sly is in game source is not, I choose to share location/activity info with sly and source(specific town and direction of movement), sly chooses only to share general location and activity info (up north working on a chopper), source isn't in game but hears it all. Server restarts, I comeback in and Blonde is joining so he and I hop in a channel, he's engaged with Nuck et.al in the deep south so I start heading that way. Within the space of an hour or so I make a loop from the mid north, all the way south and then back north. If I happened to come across sly in that trek he would have been fair game as would I.

The point is that each player has to take responsibility for their own safety once the game started changing. What would have been ghosting IMO would be if sly had used the information I provided that I am at X city moving Y direction to come try and shoot me while we were in the same channel, or if I left the channel and immediately moved to attack sly. When I left sly's channel I had vague information about his location, he made sure of that. Sly had specific information about my location, because I chose to share that information, if he had come after me following ME leaving the channel it would be fine IMO as I chose to provide the information and also chose to 'team' with someone else for the next phase of the night.

So what to do - give players the ability to create password protected temp channels and remind them that they are responsible for their own safety. KB has played long enough to understand all of this, as have War and Merritt.

One thing that needs to be discouraged is the bouncing between channels during firefights or closely thereafter. IMO that creates more problems than anything. If you want to rehash the fight, or trash talk, use side chat (typed not voice) or wait until you are logging for the night etc.

    Re: I am done here

    For what it's worth......and no I don't have times

I jumped on teamspeak prior to entering the game in the fullest channel, actually it was the only channel with any people on it. At the same time I spawned in on the south coast in New Skoma, or some such, and started moving towards the middle of the map. Sheriff, Cleric, AdmRazor and I were talking about the engagement the night before on the DayZ server. We were talking erratically and filling the channel up. The only thing I heard from Killbox was that he still needed a rotor assembly. At no time did anyone give their location and even if they did I would not have acted on it.

Soon after, I was just leaving the desert, I saw Warprosper join in a different channel. I told everyone adios and that I did not know where anyone was located. Warprosper told me he spawned fresh in Freckle and we made plans to meet at the racetrack. I eventually made my way up there. I only stopped once to kill a cow but I don't know how long it took me to get across the map. I joined War at Kleinfort and we discovered a chopper at the spawn point there. I seriously thought that was the chopper they were working on and we left the area headed West. We stopped at the barracks nearby to get Warprosper a weapon and I killed a random who spawned in the barracks. I think his name was Bremen or something like that.

Dread asked Bremen in side chat where he was located and I told him we were in the north and invited them to come get us. They jokingly chatted back and said the north was half the map to which I responded I wasn't going to make it easy.

I asked Warprosper where he wanted to go and he chose the barracks to the West of Arnoldstein. Off we went. We arrived in the hills south of Arnoldstein and Warprosper saw Zeds on the runway. We moved Southwest of the runway, South of the industrial and Warprosper observed a player in a Ghillie running towards the industrial. I still did not know this was Killbox until the hit registers started popping up.

So then Sheriff popped into our channel and told me that I needed to talk to Killbox to smooth things over and that Killbox thought I was ghosting. I admit I was pissed and anyone here that has played with me knows that I do not ghost and have no need or desire to. I probably should have calmed myself before I went into the other channel but when I switched things calmed a minute or two after. I explained that at no time did I give anyone's location away. Killbox said he figured I was running with Warprosper. I told him that had been running with him but I would'nt do that. I was not going to give my location and I guess Killbox took it as a cease fire.

I don't see why just because I then knew where Killbox was that I should leave or give up the engagement. As I said earlier I was under the assumption that Killbox was working on the chopper at Kleinfort. So, I killed Killbox and we never left that general area. I even knew that Killbox had a UAZ and did not try to find it, when I knew it was full of gear. A while later we see a player (not civies) running on the runway and engage again. Bad luck it was Killbox. All of this with the chopper making continuous loops of the airfield.

I do not ghost. Jesus guys I've even argued with Max for killing bambies on the coast of Chenarus.

    Re: I am done here

I was there for the whole thing.

I know for fact Merrit would not ghost and was not there when the one and only time I ever heard Killbox say the location of the chopper he was fixing.

I know Killbox may not of known how long Merrit had been there, know exactly when or how many times he had spoken about the location of the chopper.

I know that I was surprised how soon the shit went down between the parties.

So basically Killbox is not crazy for feeling like he got fucked. He had asked Raith, Demonic, and I to help him fix chopper. The only time I heard the location of arnoldstein was before Adamrazor or Merritt had ever entered the channel. With the speed in which he was found and engaged he decided he had to of been ghosted. I know he was not ghosted but understand how the events left him with doubt on the fairness of the events.

I know Merrits activities where innocent and with no blame. He didnt know shit other than we were fixing up a chopper.

I dont know what was said or the confusion that took place when Merrit went back to explain himself to Killbox's channel.

    Re: I am done here

I would also like to apologize for anything I said to start/provoke anything unneeded. I was only pointing out that, as someone who does not play your server for this game, I hear about it.

    Continue on.
    Speed. I am speed.
