That is the balance that must be struck. The last 3 nights i have been gearing with lefty and krom, on the one server we have seen maybe 2 people in passing while gearing, but we are doing it on a full server. The longer i go, and the more gear i get, the more intense things become.

EDIT: Had to break for a customer... anyway... for example: Krom and i were headed into Berezino last night. We took our time quietly scoping it out and planning our general route to loot. At some point Krom needed to off a few zed with a firearm. We had been so quiet about what we were doing, i was not expecting that... and nearly dropped a dookie on the spot.

The fear of losing the gear is paramount. Too much gear removes that (see Panthera) not enough gear and you get bored (See Origins).

I miss the game thats for sure, can't wait to see how they make this into something I'll buy... Hope they dont lose that Je ne sais quoi about it...

Not knowing where you were was a big part of it too. Now it's like playing CS, you know where everyone is at any given time, a death message pops up with 3 guys killed by 1 guy, Oh they're at Stary,derp.

Like with Escape Chernarus, I can usually tell you where we are within two minutes.
