I thought that it was a really interesting idea to not have much of a linear story or character development included in game or any fancy cinematics, but to handle all that though a web series instead.

Unfortunately the web series is pretty terrible. It reminds me on like a "Showtime original movie" from back in the day before they started doing stuff like Dexter.

They should have let the guys from Rocket Jump (that did VGHS on youtube) handle it. It would have been 100000X better.
