Picked up DayZ standalone, anyone still playing

I agree that it has a long way to go. I have about 15 hours into it now and I am actually still on my first life....not sure how but likely due to the fact that I only play when I have 4-6 others with me and we play on a below 20 count server so when you are 6 of the 12 or so people on and they are all lone wolfing they typically leave you alone. Even if I shelf the game now until the beta or full release I am still pleased with the hours I have put in. There are tons of things missing that I saw in the arma 2 mod version (crafting) but the game has potential. I actually stumbled across someone that didn't try to kill me within my first couple hours of play and the guy actually asked me over in game voip, "umm where are the safe zones on this map?" to which I explained there are no safe zones in the SA yet and everyone is basically kill on site but I am not interested in that aspect of the game and to have a nice day as I ran in the opposite direction. yes, we both had guns.....

I thought about buying rust instead but if I want to see that many penises I can just go hang out in the locker room of my local gym. Now if they put female avatars into the game, I may rethink that..

Standalone means you don't have to download another game and then mod it. You download DayZ SA and you play it... Hence it being a standalone. Which it actually is. A little early for the release if you ask me.

Sometimes games/mods have a special je ne sais quoi essence about them and when attempting to recapture that might be impossible. I think they are trying too hard, making it too complicated and taking way too long. They should have focused on a core game and allowed other mods to add the special advanced systems. Best to strike while the iron is hot and I think they let it cool just a little too much.
