Re: Picked up DayZ standalone, anyone still playing
I'm happily waiting for the full release its a great game so far, it's an alpha and not supposed to be a core game - kinda like rust it's a work in progress. Remember Dean said that it was by no means finished. The end product will be awesome. Just be patient.
I will admit he's taking too long for my liking and the changes he's added aren't necessarily the best idea... Time will tell.

I think some of you physically shouldn't be allowed to buy early access games.
Like someone should actually come up to you in person and say "You can't buy that, because you honestly don't understand what you're buying.".....and then proceed to smack you, because you should know what an alpha or beta is. Ya know..... being computer users and all.

LOL. Doesn't SA make you click a button agreeing to its 'alphaness' every time you want to play? I haven't played in awhile...
Counter-strike was 'beta' as shit for ages with thousands of players (struggling to somehow have fun) and CS eventually turned into a huge success. Minecraft had millions before launch with some pretty serious bugs. It isn't hard to see why developers do public alpha/betas. Rust, 7d2d, DZ:SA - these are all games that have great potential I think most would agree. If you don't enjoy them in their current state, wait until they're improved. Don't forget that you'll probably end up paying less than somebody who buys the full release also. Buyer beware I guess.

Seriously. And what is this nonsense about it not being a new engine and stuff. Idk about you but this is a completely different animal from both Arma 3 and Arma 2 to me. Rocket has been very transparent this whole time as well by letting everyone know full well what the game is at it's current state and that of at release saying himself that you shouldn't buy it. Good news is in the last month they have ramped up development of SA by a substantial amount. Beta is as close as summer some speculate. All this nonsense about this or that not being delivered business is over dramatic fanboyism.

The Engine is considered VR 2.5. Arma 2 uses VR 2, and arma 3 uses VR 3. The engine was originally used for Take on Helicopters, another BIS sim. So all things considered it's not a New Engine, not even close. And it's not a Next gen engine, or else they would have used VR 3.
So don't preach to me about different animals, and fanboyisms.

Who's preaching. You were promised a new engine for SA and you got a new engine. As far as I know it this engine was created and customized for SA. To use your own logic (whether or not the engine was entirely new or as you put it created for something else then used later for SA) The mod ran on 2 and the SA on 2.5. That sounds like a new engine to me. This also not to mention that in many ways the SA acts and retracts in many ways much more differently than the mod. I would say that is that but I know someone will have a response so I will save the trouble by saying I have ever said my final words on the matter so let's drop it and move on.
I personally want to get the band back together. DayZ or DayZero don't matter to me. I have the itch to play again.

I play on a regular basis with a friend from work. Would love to meet up with some of the TPG crowd when we hit it.
Usually use one of the ARMA3 channels when doing so.Everything under the sun is in tune, but the sun is eclipsed by the moon
