Picked up DayZ standalone, anyone still playing

Ok I looked around community games and in arma 3 forums but I didn't see an area for dayz standalone. I assume the standalone can't play with the arma 2 mod folks so is there a community here playing the standalone? If so I picked it up over the weekend and I have about 10 or so hours into it and I am impressed so far.

I think a lot of people were pissed at Rocket for lying about what the SA was going to be. He promised a new engine, completely new look....and it just wasn't. The game is NOT a standalone, it still looks like a Mod of ARMA.

There is still a small group playing DayZ ARMA II mod. Most of the "DayZ" crowd have migrated to Rust.

I hop on every now and then. Kept getting shot on sight for having nothing more than a helmet so I don't really play that often.

I have a group I am playing almost nightly with. We are playing on a perma daytime server at the moment and our group accounts for more than half the population on the server at any given time so we are pretty safe watching each others backs. We had a group member with broken legs that we escorted from green mountain all the way to the south air strip crawling, took two hours.....only to not find splints at the airfield...so in proper fashion we executed him and let him re-spawn and get his gear back. Took 10 hours but finally have a pristine m4a1 with silencer and 40 round magazines

Add me on steam "Phyrelight" and location is Arizona and I think it lists my first name which is David....yes there is more than one Phyrelight out there, though the rest are just imposters.

Bought it during the Hype. And it was indeed that, Hype.

From all the stuff DRH explained and hinted on in the DevBlog, I expected more. I expect a lot more.
It's been Shelved till Beta. Which will be in 3-5 years.

As for the KOS(kill on sight) It's still there lol. This was the biggest example of HA, Fuck You! I have ever seen. All the little kiddies were like , "there won't be anymore KOS in the SA! We will be free to prance in Cherno and skip in Elektro. Play in Stary."

But it's still there. "Oh I found a hat" BOOM. Dead.

The biggest Breaking of Dayz is the PVP, Dean made it harder to pvp in SA, which sucks because that's the games strength. There are quite a few other Zombie Survival games, ie Rust, 7days2die, etc. that Nail the Survive aspects of the Zombie Sandbox. DayZ is not one of those.

Also the Very Slow Crawl of getting Standalone Pre-Alpha to an actual working game is infuriating, let alone up to the expectations that Rocket had touted at every major gaming conference/event for the last 2 years.

I've also learned a few things when buying games that the TPG crowd is in to. If you don't buy it and play it when they play it, you're SOL.

Standalone means you don't have to download another game and then mod it. You download DayZ SA and you play it... Hence it being a standalone. Which it actually is. A little early for the release if you ask me.
