Mage or Royal?

I'd recommend going Royal simply to get the mana regeneration ring.

I just ran and then rolled past them and kept going, the dragon took care of them

I went mage, but mana hasn't been that tough for me to get, just being very choosey when it comes to fireballs, which btw melt faces

Not that I know of, If you retreat fully back into the tower and wait a bit the dragon will go away and the bridge will be mostly cleared. Then you make a run for it sprinting 3/4 of the way, and then rolling past the two guards. Then you run it down the steps so the dragon doesn't destroy you.

well if i try to stay back the dragon gets me. Is there a way i can kill the dragon before i fight them?

Buy a bow and a shit load of arrows (I used close to 75 with a good bow, buy at least 150 though, preferably 200). Get on top of the first tower and aim back towards arch at the beginning and begin firing away. One shot per pass and once you get the hang of where to aim (usually at his left wing as he flies in, which should put you close to the top of the arch), give it a little bit of patience and you'll have him dead. Make sure you pick up both the winged spear on the first part of the bridge there as well as the purple heart shield at the dragon nest in 1-1. They'll do you a LOT of good throughout the game.

He's talking about 1-1 though, Space. You can't kill him in 1-1.

Just run a bit and let the dragon come over and burn the first set of guys, then walk over towards the dragons roost. As soon as you see him fly back to the nest, just sprint across the bridge and you'll be fine.

Glad to hear you're doing well with the Mage, but I would still recommend Royal over it for new players 100 times over though. Having the fragrant ring before playing World 4 makes the early game much easier.

Thanks for the tip on that dragon. After I killed phalanx i haphazardly ran onto the battlements and got torched. Think I had my physical form back for a grand total of 30 seconds :2
