Demon's Souls
Didn't wanna derail the Dark Souls thread. So I took ya advice and started this game before going on to Dark Souls and I gotta say its a fun game. So do ya have any advice for a beginner like me in the game, I've already down the first boss and wasn't that bad but after that I'm pretty clueless on what the next level I should move on to. Also it seem that playing as a Magician mana is a bitch to keep up.

Re: Demon's Souls
I assume you went Royal? That ring will be your best friend.
Play 4-1 and get the crescent fashion from the beginning of that level (the skeletons are going to be a BITCH at first, but you'll get it after fighting them a few times).
That weapon will scale with your magic stat and will be a big help whenever you run out of mana.
Besides that, just have fun! Everything is currently pure white world tendency, which is basically an easy "difficulty" setting. This also means that tendency events are open and you can score a bunch of sweet gear easily. Check out the Demon's Souls wiki for more info on tendency events.

Re: Demon's Souls
The Royal is definitely the easiest to start with, and that Fragrant Ring might take a few minutes to recharge your mana, but it is well worth it. As long as you go with a good mix of Soul Arrow and melee combat it shouldn't really ever get low enough to be a pain the butt.
After you complete the beginning area and move back to the Nexus (I think that is when the Dark Lady appears and you can begin to upgrade your character), try moving on to area 2-1 or something like that. You don't have to go through all the areas in order to go to the next. Some of the other areas will be easier (even more so with the Royal) than the deeper parts of the Boletarian Palace.
I'm sending you a PM with a few tips in that first area. I'm not certain if you have done them or not, if you have, just ignore it, but if not, it might net you some extra loots that will help you out alot in the game. It's kind of long to explain so I won't bog down this post with a wall'o'text.

Re: Demon's Souls
Since everything is in white world tendency atm, you should be able to get the purple flame shield really easily. It has the highest fire damage reduction percentage you'll find for a long while (90%). I don't remember if you have to kill the red dragon before even in white world tendency.
Also, once you get used to fighting the skeletons in 4-1, a little further in than the crescent falchion, you can get a hold of the compound long bow.
Oh, and read up on the crystal lizards. They appear in every level a limited number of times based on events in that world and are a good source, if you take advantage of them, of stones for upgrading weapons. They can only appear so many times within a playthrough, and that includes killing them, or scaring them off. So expect them and kill them. And get all the loot you can from them.
On that same note, there is a section of cave in 2-2 with ~10 crystal lizards in close proximity. Avoid it until you have something like the God's Wrath miracle that can kill all of them before they escape (and of course have room in your inventory to carry all of the shards).

Re: Demon's Souls
I was able to get the purple shield in the first level but currently a few points short of being able to use it atm. So I was able to get the the crescent falchion in 4-1 but sadly at first I wasn't paying attention and got killed by the trap . . . My question to ya is, is it better to be in soul or body form during the game?

I played most of the game in soul form. If I recall, the only downside is less HP. As a soul though, dying does not effect world tendency (dying in human form moves you towards black world tendency if you are offline or under normal server conditions). You are also quieter when running around.
Also, in soul form, you cant be invaded by players online. However, you cant summon players to help you either.
