Saints Row The Third
Anyone else out there playing this? I picked it up a few days ago and am amused so far. I LOVED SR2 after GTAIV crapped out whatever that garbage was so it was a nice substitute to get that open world silliness. SR3 doesnt disappoint with its over the top "that would never happen in real life" moments with a satirical twist to it. I like the ease of getting around and calling out for help.
Something different they did in this game is that you unlock upgrades with the respect levels you gain but then have to buy those unlocks. It can feel a bit tedious at times but its nice to be able to go for the unlocks that I like the most. You can also buy unlocks for your guns (better aim, better zoom, larger clips, incendiary ammo... mmmm).
They have a buttload of misc activities to do. A lot of them are recycled from last game, but I liked a lot of those (trailblazing, throwing yourself in front of cars, etc...). They introduce them through missions though so Im hoping now that I have "found" all of the activities, the plot doesnt thin out because of it. So far it seems that there has only been a main missions and the only side missions have been to intro the activities. We'll see how it pans out though. I havent even checked to see how far along I am in the game yet.
But if you like wacky sandbox games, then I advise you to at least take a look at this game...

I played some of SR2, its on my long backlistof games to play more of. Its fun cause it dosnt take itself as seriusly as GTA does, it has goofier graphics and missions. Im still pretty fresh into it though just done a few main missions and now im trying to improve my house. I havnt seen anything really WOW yet though...

But yeah, youre right, nothing really has the wow factor. I think thats been lost since San Andreas. That really introduced a huge map with different types of regions and cooky shit. Everything else after that is a just following suit. You kind of have to go into the game thinking that really...
