PS3 Dead Need Help
So my older PS3 has bit the dust. It is the one I used the most and has all my games and shit saved on it. It started out doing the 3 beeps then yellow light. I was trying to get it back up to A. Try and backup and B. Remove the netflix movie that is in the disc drive. No it will not do anything. No red light no nothings.
Any ideas on how to retrieve the disc or pull my data? I do not think I will send it in for repair. Most likely I will just buy a new one or try to move my game save data to my other PS3 and buy an Xbox.
Help Please! I have a stable of cars and over 20mil credits from GT5 that I really hate to lose.

Do you have a HDD/SSD in there for storage? If so, you should just be able to transfer it to your new PS3.
For the disc, you could just take apart the PS3 completely.
It's times like these that I'm glad that cloud storage systems are becoming the norm.enf-Jesus its been like 12 minutes and you're already worried about stats?! :-P
Bigdog-Sweet home Alabama you are an idiot.

Re: PS3 Dead Need Help
Just took it apart and removed the DVD so step one is done. It was dirty as hell inside and I am sure that is the cause of my failure. I suspect over heat and then when I tried to restart it I eventually blew the power supply or possibly the fuse on the power supply. The fuse is not easily replaced and would need to be soldered in.
From what I have read it you drop an HD from one PS3 to another it makes you format it.

Re: PS3 Dead Need Help
Please explain more. Everything I am reading all over the net says that it is 100% impossible to retrieve saved data from a PS3 HD and transfer it to a new one without using the backup utility on the original working PS3. You mean you took your HD out of a dead PS3 and was able to transfer it to a new PS3?
