Re: How does shooting/aiming work?
This is probably an obvious thing since most of us are veterans, but I never actually tinkered with my config too much after starting CS:GO and I realized my autoexec.cfg was actually in the wrong folder. Anyways, I added some stuff from this site to my config:
Official Netcode CS:GO config autoexec - 8/17/2012
And I went from feeling like a nub and being middle of the pack to leading my team. Coincidence? Maybe... but the game definitely felt better.

Re: How does shooting/aiming work?
Have you tried using different viewmodel presets in your game options? There are 3- Desktop, Couch, and Classic.
I had to adjust the viewmodel settings in console to get a good feel. All of the presets made me feel like I was having to aim up unnaturally, too far to the left, or too high. Now aiming feels more natural and I find myself targetting the head much faster.
If you don't like the presets you can make your own with these settings in console or added to a autoexec.cfg.
viewmodel_offset_x [left , right adjustment -2 to 2 I am using 1.2]
viewmodel_offset_y [ back , forward adjustment -2 to 2 I am using 1]
viewmodel_offset_z [down, up adjustment -2 to 2 I am using -.5]
viewmodel_fov [field of view of your model (not world) 55-65? I am using 60]
I basically ran around a map with a scout or awp and looked at a tree or tire or some kind of target in the distance unscoped. I then scoped in to see how far my perception was off horizontally and vertically and made viewmodel adjustements until where I perceived the crosshair should be was the closest when scoped in.
Only thing is you will have to load them or your autoexec.cfg manually everytime you start the game or it will use the preset you have selected.Did I say that or was I just thinking it?
