Thread: Thoughts on Mag-7 shotgun?

I've only logged a couple hours playing CS:GO thus far, just enough time to test out all the weapons. So far, I am really liking the Mag-7 shotgun. It's cheap, has decent spread, and great damage. The ROF is pretty low and the magazine is small, but I see this being a great addition to the other shotguns.

Do you guys have any thoughts on how this shotgun compares to the other three? Any comments in general?

The fire rate is a bit to slow for me. Considering its a shotgun with a magazine I'd think the rate of fire would be a tad higher. Aside from that, I'm not to keen on the shotguns in this game like I was in source. I feel like the damage has been nerfed by to much. I've seen people with the sawed off one shot people, but I can't ever seem to hit them at all.

With that said, its a great gun for those lucky enough to be able to hit stuff with it. However, I'm not one of those people.

I love the Mag-7. The spread is SO tight in close quarters. The key is to treat it like a deag and aim for the upper chest/head area. Bodyshots with a shotgun are a bad idea, you gotta keep the top of your spread pattern on their head.

1 pellet in the face and the rest in the neck and shoulders is a 1 hit kill.

Needs more Pew Pew and less boom boom.

I'm having great success with it, as it is. Deadly when it comes to close quarters, when I round the corner and come face-to-face with an enemy, I'll win. It's all in how you use it. I like to pair it with the five-seven b/c of it's accuracey long range.

I feel the complete opposite. The Mag7 and the Sawed-offs are beasts at close range. I think shotguns might replace SMGs on some maps as a solid second round weapon at the competitive level.

And on Inferno, shotguns are useful all match long.

i really like the mag-7 and the sawed off because they're economical as hell, and with the new changes to spray patterns, I'd say they're more reliable and effective to use than an SMG, even with the small clip size.

but

I still need to learn how to shoot them.
