I was just thinking of you Madmax! Someone on the Steam forums linked to an article where the Tuscan map maker was annoyed about Mirage, undeservedly so IMO.

Just read that article. He indeed seems upset and critical of the ported map. Max gave the author credit on the fpsbanana submission, and Max did a good job of the port.

Sorry if I sound a little angry over this question but I take A LOT of pride and honor in the hours I put into bringing maps to the community, and stealing someone else's work and re-releasing it as your own without consulting anyone or even giving credit to the original author is wrong. I know the community doesn't really know about much of this going on they're just happy the map is released and playable, but it should be addressed.

Straight from the gamebanana page....

The guy that designed de_cpl_strike, BubkeZ, modified (improved) the map and called it de_mirage in 1.6. So Madmax used de_cpl_strike as a base and recreated de_mirage for GO.

BubkeZ is also listed as original author. No idea what he's getting bent out of shape for.

Yeah I don't know what his deal is. I explained the whole situation in my thread here at TPG and that's the only place I personally posted or uploaded the map. Its not really my fault if other people who spread the map don't credit the proper people. Even I don't get credited in some of those places.

But rest assured, the proper people are certainly getting "credited" now.
