Meh, I'd take alot of that with a grain of salt. Much of that gear comes from sponsorships. I know for a fact that netcode is sponsored by Razer...so of course they use all Razer gear. I know zomblers used to be sponsored by Steel Series...and every former zomblerz player on that sheet is using all Steel Series gear. The Sennheisser PC 350's have been pimped for a long long time as one of the best headsets you can buy for gaming...and I know they used to be given out at lans pretty often.

Depending on the mouse you're using. Setting it to the highest DPI may not be the best idea. In fact there's no reason to be using 4500 DPI, unless you find it comfortable at that speed.

It's much better to have a lower DPI and a sensitivity above 1 though. I can go more in depth and the technicalities of this later if you want.

Biggest reason though to have a lower sensitivity is to allow more correction when swiping to your enemy. High sensitivity players are allowed very little correction when swiping. Essentially making high sensitivity players less consistent and accurate. :]

Most of this data is out of data.

Majority of netcode players used the DA prior to the sponsorship. Which by the way is only a organization now, and not a actual team.

Low resolution because players need to LAN. Not every LAN center has top notch PC's, which means running at a low resolution is essential to get good FPS. Also many of these players played 1.6, where 8x6, 1020x768, 6x4, had better registration and other goodies for running a lower resolution.

They all use low DPI because again they're all from 1.6. You can't use a lower sensitivity then 1 in 1.6. You will notice though a majority of the players are using a mouse with a "flawless" sensor. MS 1.1, 3.0, DA, MX518, all have incredible tracking. Little/No prediction besides the MX518.

PC350's are popular due to the fact they have excellent sound compared to your average headset. PC350/360 > Pretty much any other headset out there besides the MMX 300.

You'll notice a lot of QCK Heavy pads, and the main reason behind it is because of its excellent control (very slow pad). It's also one of the thicker pads which is perfect for LAN's when there's bumps in the tables.

You'll notice a lot of mechanical keyboards, but they don't honestly improve your playing.

I'm aware of most of that dmaster, but if you look, all the netcode players have all Razer gear. That's what I was referring to. I know they got it in sponsorship...I doubt they threw it away. All the gear on there is good...I'm just saying that there is a decent chance they are using what they are using because they are or were at some point sponsored by the owning company. The PC 350's are great headphones. I've tried them at LAN a few times...if my icemats ever break I might get a pair.

And you are correct, all the mice on there except for the Sensei and Xei have perfect sensors. MX518 has a little predicition...still the best mouse I've ever owned.

Ya, the Zowie gear isn't all that good either in terms of their mouse line up. I really dislike the fact that they use a custom lens, instead of a avago lens. It craps the tracking, as many have noticed and the mouse only runs well on a certain DPI with a certain hz (depends which Zowie mouse).

They modified it to try and get rid of the tracking at DPI lower than 1500 that is with that particular avago lens.

I tend to stick with whatever gear I have and try my best not to change it. Changing out my interfaces usually hurts my gaming short-term and if the gear proves to be better it will eventually improve it. I just hate that in-between time.

I'm still using:

Logitech G5 Laser Mouse (sens/dpi on the middle setting) ingame sens @ 2.4 and windows in middle
5L Steel Series Mousepad
Microsoft Ergonomic Keyboard
Razer Carcharias (mic broke so I use a microsoft webcam now for that)

With that being said, if something is totally obsolete or crazy bad then I'd consider upgrading. Appreciate any tips.

The G5 is pretty bad to be honest. Tracking is decent if you're using a high sens, but it has a low max control for anyone who uses medium/low sensitivity.

If you're thinking of a possible upgrade, a G400 would be ideal. Very similar shape if not exact. I don't have both in front of me unfortunately, but I'm almost positive its the same size and shape.

G400 only issue though is the lack of a stress reliever for the cord. A mouse bungee may help, though I have tried.

G400 has no prediction, high max control and malfunction. Very good mouse besides the one issue I listed above. :]
