    Map switched to de_mirage.ce and...

    Crashed the server while we were priming. Can we please get maps that don't work removed. Also, I am not sure why we left Workshop on the server. Is it because it interfered with the Mods on the server? I believe it's causing even more problems now then before when we had Workshop. People have to delete maps in CS:GO folder and then re-download. Maybe we should look into different Mods that work with Workshop? I am just intrigued. So let me know what's going on. Thanks!!

    As far as I know, the workshop isn't on either server anymore.

    workshop was a buggy pile of crap. It was poorly implemented and shouldn't have been released.

    Did it actually crash the server or were people just unable to join?

    Because I think that right now the new version is not on the redirect.

    And the reason the map was renamed was to prevent people from having to delete their map and redownload.

    Guys, I think we're maybe not looking at the big picture here. I only say this because the issue is not limited to one map.

    In the past week or so I've observed the following:

    1) After server upgrade the lag was back on both servers like old times (yay)
    2) Mirage, Cache, and Lost Temple all three regularly say "map differs from server" and it seems to be different on both East and Central server? So if I delete for Central, tomorrow I have to re-delete for East. This has been an issue since you removed workshop from one and then eventually removed it from the other.
    3) Three different times/days I've tried to join the server and it says failed to join Lobby and I can't connect at all. This happened once after a map change the other day when we were priming.


    If renaming the map is the solution, then lets make sure we tackle all three trouble maps. Let's also make sure that both servers are running the same versions of the maps? That seems bizarre.

    I hope that helps you troubleshoot. It's frustrating to put the time in to priming the servers only to have these little things thwart our efforts each night.

    Good info Rad, thanks.

    Ultimately I think the version issue has to do with how the workshop allows client maps to be overwritten when a new update comes out, which allows map makers to stick with the same name for their map file instead of using _b1, _b2, _rc1 etc like was common before.

    I am going back to sequentially naming my maps but I can't say the same for any other map maker. For instance, I know that we will have this same issue when Ted releases a new version of de_season because he is only distributing it over the workshop and therefore is not changing the file name with each release.

    And unfortunately simply renaming the .bsp after the map has been packed breaks things like radars, map-specific player models, etc. It requires a recompile to properly change the name.
    We can do better.

    I see that there are some negative feelings about linking the server to the workshop, and that some players had to continuously download maps through workshop, but it worked flawlessly for me as a player and I rather liked it.

    I hope they fix the bugs/issues with it so it can at some point become the solution to all of this like it's intended to be.

    What exactly was buggy with workshop?

    My only issue with workshop was that it caused map names in the browser to show the whole directory to the map.

    EDIT:
    I think it's best to stick out with working versions of the maps, until everything is completely final. Mainly talking about season as I know Ted has a few changes that are ready already and should be shipped out in the workshop very soon. If a map is working properly, and there's no game breaking bugs, I saw we stick with the map until a absolute final version comes out.
