Willing to prime? Willing to prime?

    Re: Willing to prime?

I like some of your suggestions. The only ones I have issue with are the dead-voice and team spec - and only because that makes admining the server a bitch if there is only one of us on. Can't spec someone to look for hacks, can't necessarily notice Joe Blow outside on Nuke while the rest of the T's went ramp, etc.

As far as the admin style - some admins are more tolerant than others. That's how it's always been. We can talk about being more strict to the rules as an admin group and see what happens.

I don't think we need to try 128 tic. 100 tic runs just fine...better than most 128 tic servers that I've played on tbh.

We most definitely do need regs and admins on both sides stepping up and being vocal about what TPG is about when they are in game. We do need more consistent priming...as I said, I'll try to get active a little earlier. It's tough to do anything before bed time with 2 kids under 3. There are a lot of people playing in MM...it would be nice if we could try to prime the server first until we get back on our feet. Just MO.

    Re: Willing to prime?

I haven't been around because of BF4 mostly. I do miss CS and I actually enjoy CS:GO. I made my attempts to prime and help test the new servers awhile back... it is really frustrating after 30+ minutes I have had two or three players join on me or I have spent the entire time figuring out unique ways to kill bots.

The few times the server does get going I notice that rule enforcement is not as strict as CSS was. I think that has to do with the fact that it is hard to keep a server populated and not wanting to scare off new players. I also think it has to do with not as many admins being around. I definitely agree with what BT is saying... I came to TPG because of CSS and how the server was run.

I will be a realist, I drive two hours every day and work 10 hour days. My free time is important and I won't be spending 30 minutes trying to prime a dead server anymore, but I want to play CS:GO. I will be making an attempt to help get the server going instead of just considering the game dead to me... I hope TPG can pump some life back into what I think is a great game.

I apologize to those that put the effort in to get the server running well and prime it. I just gave up on it.

    Re: Willing to prime?

I can prime and get the server full pretty easily as I have for years. New connections will come in and eventually through admin coaching and well rounded regs they will stick around. But what I find to be true now is that we have regulars that bitch bitch bitch 24/7 to players about how they should be playing the game on TPG when they are completely new to the server. What ensues is immediate disconnections.

Seriously getting sick of people that have 0 social skills and do not know how to make people welcome. Our server feels like an authoritarian camp instead of a fun place to play.

Ah, you do bring up a good point about free spec for admin purposes if there's only 1 admin on the server. Too bad there's not a way (that I know of) to enable free spec for admin only. Is it possible to allow switching to the "spectators" team and back more often and without losing money? That way you could just do that if you needed to check someone out on the other team. I guess there's the potential of some people abusing this, but they'd have to be dealt with just like anyone else not following the rules.

As for the 100tic vs 128tic thing, I agree that the server seems to run very well (certainly better than the 64tic MM POS servers), but my point was that 128tic is one of the things that people look for when joining a new server. I know when I'm browsing pubs I usually select "has players currently playing" then sort by ping. If there are 2 that both have a map that I like and close pings, the one listed as higher tic is the one that I join. It was just something that I thought might be worth trying for a short period of time to see if it had an impact on popularity.

I always will accept an invitation to prime tpg over an invitation to MM and I'll also try to suggest TPG to the people sending the MM invite. I've noticed some other regs like Max and Abi do the same. However, one of tne of the most frustrating things though is when people join tpg, and raid the server of regs to go play MM. If we want to keep TPG alive, then we need to make it a priority over MM for at least a little while.

Not to mention, if you guys can get the server back up and on its feet, I seem to remember a High mentioning getting a server with a >100 tick rate.

This is exactly what I wanted, even more so. Thanks for your honesty Brock. I completely understand that some people don't want to prime, we are here for fun, and priming isn't always fun. I don't care if you want to or not (unless you're an admin, then I think it is your responsibility to help prime the server 9/10 times), but I really just wanted to see how many people were willing or weren't.

Several good points have been brought up, but really we need willing regulars and admins to step up, and put in a good faith effort to prime. One big problem we've had is just having one or two people putting in an effort, and that makes it hard. If we have a large number of people putting in an effort to prime the server, after a decent amount of time, we may not need such efforts so much. I understand wanting to play MM too, it is different and fun, but lets take some time and try to get TPG's CS back up and running, or see it die.

Also, as Vafa said, when we do prime, and get randoms, we need to coach and help them see the TPG way, not just yell (yes I know, this includes me...).
(NC-17) Howlin: got plans for me do you?
    [TPG] ab1tar: oh yeah
[TPG] ab1tar: youre on my list of ppl to do
(NC-17) Howlin: woh abbi, should you buy me dinner first

Don't all the source games run on one server? So why would we ever drop CS:GO when it's not costing any extra to have around.

Getting the GO server up and lag free with a good tic rate was provign difficult. So, outsourced to provide a stable gaming environment.
