Thread: Totally thinking about picking up cs again, was just wondering if TPG is the same?

Because you still don't understand that my whole point throughout this thread is that GO and Source are both still counter strike, and that there is no reason to split the community up again but instead play one game, unfortunately for you it happens to be GO, not source.

I stated reasons as to why I thought GO was the better game to play. You stated reasons as to why GO attracts a different crowd. I simply disagree with your reasons and will say again, this is still counter strike. This applies to the server as well, you still follow the call, you still rush and complete the objective. It's only fun if the people in the server are on the same page as you, and it isn't easy to have that nowadays with players moving on to different games or going to MM more often.

You will probably say go back to what works to save the community, and in your opinion what works is source. I disagree, lets leave it at that.

What changed? Obviously a new version of CS being launched and TPG picking it up. Source server was still around at the launch of the GO server for months. Did people play there? Nope, and it was around for quite a bit.

We can't capitalize on the CS:GO User stats because this game is more competitive and has more leagues and tournaments popping up left and right. That leaves us with the casual players who can now join a Valve 20man public server instantly, or just MM for a competitive feel. TPG just doesn't have the players left in it to be as active as it was in source. There are a handful of active CS players left here, which makes it hard to get the server full. Obviously if it is hard to to prime the server and they just want to get a quick game in they are just going to MM or find different pub.

Sure, I said bringing source back is wrong. You can read above for my opinion as to why we lost our edge. If GO never came out obviously the source sever would still be here and with that maybe even a ton of old regulars like yourself. Since that is not the case, the options were to support 1 game or to support both. We tried option 2, that didn't work.

Where do you get your information from? The CS GO forums barely have any activity, we have more regulars who just play CS GO in either the server or MM or even other servers than we do on these forums.

Your initial post said bring back source, I replied. It then changed to you wanting know why things aren't working out for us here and basically telling us source worked, lets go back to source. I gave my opinion multiple times as to why we are here. To make things simple, stop being a naysayer, get off the forums, and go play CS:GO on the server. People putting in hours on the server is what works, you sitting here on the forums saying over and over source works is not what we need. GO is still counter strike at the end of the day, you play as a team. Try hopping in the server, that works.

Oh and I guess I should tell you to do some more research on these forums and ask around. We tried to avoid MM as a community for a wile, unfortunately we can't anymore and you should know why after reading all these posts. I barely MM, but now if I want to play with community members here I pretty much have to unless we can get the server going.

Hocus, you actually never brought in a novel idea to us and you seem to not want to accept that unfortunately. We tried having a source server in the past, it didn't work as it was even more dead than GO is now (which yes, we understand it has been dead, not lets DO something about that) which is what people have been trying to say. Source didn't work after GO came out for us, so the decision was made to just go with having a GO server, as this game has far more players than source does now. Yes, go is a slightly different game mechanics wise, but we still play the same way, we still have the same rules, and we are still TPG. If you want to play TPG style, and care about the community come help us out, get in the server, help prime it up, and lets get gaming.

To sum up, TPG's CS:GO community has been dying, though plenty of regulars still play GO, so we are adjusting how we look at the game here, we have our community server that we will try to prime at least once a week, and we have a steam group to coordinate MM for those that want to play there too. Go is a fun game, and everyone should pick it up (especially if it is on sale), TPG may not be exactly the same, but we are adjusting, and decently often we try to have nights of good ol' TPG style Counter Strike.
