I don't think anyone is saying to only grow the website for money. Why would they? No one's getting paid for what we do here. However, the website is our central hub, and is a cornerstone to our community. Sure it would be great if this place was self sustaining, but they'll come in time.

Keeping the forums alive keeps the community alive though. If our community was based only in steam or BF2, we wouldn't have grown as much or been as strong as we are. BF guys would have probably not played CSS and CSS guys wouldn't have tried out BF2. Each game would have it's own group of people, but when that game faded away here there's no guarantee those people would stick around for our other games. I know I wouldn't have. I'd have moved to a new server, and probably stopped playing CSS years before we stopped supporting it here.

I don't know about the whole server business, but I think using the steam group to organize MM lobbies would be fun, like we did in the l4d2 days. We would also use that the invite any good team mates we find. Problem is that there is a disparity of ranks between some of us.
