09-12-15, 02:55 PM #1Teamplay....
is alive.
One itty bitty tiny glimpse of the teamplay involved in 5v5. Take this with a grain of salt because of two things: this is a Na'Vi video and they are a professional 5v5 team that take part in such tournaments as Cologne and Katowice, and secondly if you are brand new to MatchMaking (5v5) you are not going to find this kind of teamplay with newer players. All those smokes and flashes you see flying around in that video...they aren't just tossing them where ever they please, they took the time to learn and practice the exact positions needed to land them.
Steam Workshop :: Mirage Training by Dolnma
There are plenty of Smoke Training maps that you can easily download from the workshop, like this one above for Mirage, that are actually super fun, easy, and educational. It shows you everything you need to know to land perfect smokes, flashes, and Molotovs for every part of the map. This is a great tool if you want to take your MM to the next level.
Teamplay is not dead. It's more alive than ever. There are many TPG server regulars who play MM on a nightly basis. You can find many on our TPG CS:GO Steam Group,
Steam Community :: Group :: TeamPlayerGaming CS:GO
Post for lobbies, invite random teamplayers, use your mic and communicate. If you are familiar with MM you'll understand that there are "random" lobbies of trolls and non-teamplayers. People who don't care to work together or use their mic. Then there are the "random" players who are amazing teamplayers. They are cool people and you probably friend them and invite them to another lobby. Why not invite them to the TPG steam group also. The intention of the group was to bring random teamplayers together like we did so well in the past, but now using MM lobbies. It's trickier, but I believe it can be done.Last edited by Mr_Blonde_OPS; 09-12-15 at 02:57 PM.

Re: Teamplay....
I believe you are probably right. But....
What good does that steam group do TPG? Do any of these people in the group regularly post on the forum? Or visit it and generate page views?
Do we still have high's as leaders of that group? Is anyone actively trying to generate forum traffic within the group?moving-target thanked for this post

You are probably right too Kanati. But the same question can be asked about an empty CS:SO server. You say,
but then you say we shouldn't use the Steam group because it doesn't help us? What does an empty server do for us? I just don't get it Kanati. Honestly I'm one of the few CS regulars who do still frequent these forums...and do post in the CS:GO forums about random stuff trying to generate conversations. I'm always looking to help, but yes my viewpoint may differ from yours. I believe we should be adapting instead of going backwards to what we KNOW doesn't work. But like you said also, what is the steam group doing that a server couldn't? And I agree it's not doing much. But how could you want to promote the server, even if it sits empty, but not a steam group that's promoting the same thing?

Re: Teamplay....
I never said people shouldn't use the steam group. I just don't know what it accomplishes for TPG. If people can't or aren't willing to use our server and MM is the way of things now then so be it. But it doesn't help TPG any more than the empty server does if people aren't getting poked and prodded now and then to visit the forums.

Re: Teamplay....
How is MM moving forward or adapting? 5v5 is older than our own version of teamplay. You cannot admin MM servers...playing MM won't bring anyone here.
Over 500,000 people are playing this game on a daily basis:
Steam: Game and Player Statistics
Peak today
643,108
...and I HIGHLY doubt that all of them are playing MM.

If you have a solution to resurrecting our community server, then by all means I'd love to see it. I'm just telling you what I see from my perspective. We've tried to bring the server back and it FAILED because we don't have the community members like we did years ago. The TPG regulars who still play CS that I have on my friends list, and it's quite a few, all enjoy MM instead. That's not a knock towards the TPG server and I feel like many of you take it this way. So with all my old CS friends playing MM and countless attempts to prime our server in the past with no success, why would I want to continue to bang my head against the wall? Like you said Guyver, 4-5 people priming the server isn't going to cut it. 16 people would be great, but I don't see 16 TPG, CS:GO regulars, willing to play on the server multiple times a week, let alone once a week.
So instead I try to think of other ways to bring players to TPG. I see that MM is the most popular and I see that many random players thirst for teamplayers to play with. Is that not a perfect chance for us to jump in. Invite them to the group, maybe they follow a link to the forums, maybe not. It's the same scenario as someone joining our server and finding their way to the forums. The purpose has always been to play with teamplayers, that much has never changed. I see no reason why having a Steam Group for those people to find each other and join games together is a bad idea. But I know how hard it is. I'm probably the only one who has used that group to make a lobby. But I always invite cool teamplayers I find to it. Nothing can be done alone here and it just doesn't happen magically, but at least I can say I'm still trying to help even if you think otherwise.

Re: Teamplay....
I don't understand why you keep equating MM as a chance to bring people to TPG. You invite them to the group. Ok. They come to the furums. Ok. Then what? Unless you are actively IN the public TPG CD:GO server...all of that does nothing. MM is not a solution because TPG has 0% input, or involvement. The servers are owned by Valve. The banning system is automated.
As for a solution, it was stated.
...BUT you have to WANT to play. Not 5v5, either....in the server.

You know, IIRC, the general issue with popping a server was how full it looked. So, an 8/10 server looks better than an 8/20 server. What about something of a compromise between 5v5 and 12v12 like an 8v8 server. Not quite herding cats and not quite "trying to be MM". It might also look better with fewer bodies while priming.
Beyond that remember just how many people who used to prime non-stop have moved on from university. Families, jobs, different priorities, etc. It will make it more difficult regardless. Not impossible, just more difficult. If you go in expecting things to just snap into place like 5/6 years ago, you might end up disappointed.enf-Jesus its been like 12 minutes and you're already worried about stats?! :-P
Bigdog-Sweet home Alabama you are an idiot.
