Just an FYI.. I know there are alot of people that use the megaupload.com site for downloading vids... If you have any info saved there it could be gone by thursday...

Sad but true.

Also did you know the founder of Megaupload was on top of the MW3 Free-For-All Leaderboards when he was arrested. Thought that was kinda funny.

Think it's kinda funny how the guy and all his assets (cars, house, money..) were in New Zealand and the FBI just swooped in and took it all.

They did work with the FBI. And SOME of the servers were U.S. based. I still find that disconcerting that the U.S. gov't can arrest and extradite foreign citizens overseas with little to no rebuttle from other governments. I heard (so it's heresay) of a Wikileaks report that basically stated the Australian government is heavily connected and directly tied to US interests. Why do we need further legislation to make this easier like SOPA when due law can already deal with it?

Now if there is proof that such owners of copyrighted material in question made official attempts to make the service admins aware of the sharing of such materials and the service admins did not remove such materials after being officially notified than I can understand the shutdown but my understanding is this was not the case.
Illegal Copyrighted material was found and being shared but there was no official attempt to make the service admins aware of the user and links of these materials for removal.
