    ping times

I'm curious what ISP people are using for CSS? I'm using CenturyLink DSL with 40Mbits down and 5Mbits up. When congestion is low I can get pings as low as 25ms at speedtest.net. On the TPG servers I sometimes see it in the 40s but usually it's around 70 or 80. But in the evenings my ping gets terrible - sometimes around 200ms. Most other players don't seem to have that problem...

It's a twofold problem. Dsl sucks if you're away from the hub, and in the evenings, tons more people are using the pipe you're on.

    Re: ping times

I thought conventional wisdom was that congestion was more of a problem on cable than DSL. ...since DSL is a point to point link while cable users share the medium. Of course that means nothing if the congestion occurs on one of the trunks after the central office.
