    Ever notice?

The bolt/action on the AK/M4 is on the left side of the gun rather than the right side like MOST guns? Thus allowing the shells to expel the gun without burning the user or getting in the line of sight.... Game flaw??

Noticed before, and if you were holding the weapon right handed you would actually be more likely to fling hot brass on yourself or have it get in your way.

    Crash Upon Start Up

    Greetings

First off I'd like to say I've been playing L4D for many months now, and it has to be my favorite game for sure.

Everything has been running smoothly until recently. I was in versus match, when suddenly my power cut out from a thunderstorm going on. When the power came back up, I got on my PC and was starting up L4D when it crashed. It crashes when it's on the "Loading" screen after the intro trailer.

Says Left4dead.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. When I click on "More detail" I get:

    AppName: left4dead.exe AppVer: 0.0.0.0 ModName: steamclient.dll
    ModVer: 0.0.0.0 Offset: 0001c0b5

I don't see a need to post my dxdiag since I've played the game smoothly for many months.

Of course I could reinstall and that would likely help, but I'd prefer to see if there was another way to solve it without having to reinstall completely and then re-patch up my game and my settings/sprays, etc.

    Thanks.

It could be your Steam that got hosed during the power outage.

Look in your \Steam\Steamapps\common left 4 dead\bin folder and see if you have a steamclient.dll and if so, how many bytes is it?

Mine is 3,000,816 when looking at the properties of the file.

It still is probably best if you reinstall Steam, if you haven't already.

You can also get a fairly cheap UPS nowadays. I found one for under 50 bucks at Sams Club. It won't last a real long time, 10-15 minutes maybe, but it will keep your CPU from crashing during a brief power outage. That might keep this from happening again.
