    Hi there,

    I'm glad you're getting L4D, it's a really good game and I hope you will enjoy it.

    I don't know alot of tips off by heart, but I've gathered a few and here they are;

    • Work as a team - ALOT of people stress this, you must work as a team. Working on your own will cause you or another team member to lose the game.
    • Don't stay in one spot for too long - Doing so will cause the AI director to spawn a horde (Lot's of zombies) and some Special infected.
    • Don't be selfish - this means having full health and getting another health kit. Allow other players to replenish their own health.
    • Don't run off on your own - I can't stress this enough. Running off on your own can result in you being attacked by a special infected. If a special infected, such as the Hunter or Smoker, gets you, you need your team mates around to help you. Being on your own will not make this possible.
    • Crouch during horde attacks - Crouching will improve your accuracy and allow other players to shoot over you, thus killing more infected.
    • Communicate - Communication isn't essential, but makes it a hell of a lot easier. If you speak to your fellow players, you can explain that you are new, and they can give you some slack. You can also point out anything that other players have missed.
    • Practice - The game can be a little overwhelming at first, but you will soon get used to it. Keep playing and you will get better.
    • Avoid the witch - Avoid her if possible. As it says in the game information, the witch is one of the most powerful infected in the game. 1 swipe of her claw and you are incapacitated, even more swipes and you're dead.
    • Team up to kill the tank. Trying on your own will get you killed.
    • Stick together at crescendo event's

    Now, you might be wondering what some of the words above mean. Assuming you don't know, I've compiled a list and gave an explanation;

    • Infected: The main antagonist in the game. As you know, the game is situated in a zombie apocolypse. The infected are just zombies. They will attack you once they see you, but are quite easy to kill on their own.
    • Horde: A horde is a large group of infected. Lethal if you are own your own. They can spawn at different parts of the game, and in different places, coming at you from all directions. This is where you need to work as a team to kill them.
    • Crescendo Event: This is a certain part of the game that is designed to stop you for a while. It doesn't mean stop you as in stopping your movement, but it stops you in the way as you can't proceed further in the game untill you have finished. Each campaign in the game has it's own crescendo event, I'll give you an example. In the 3rd part of No Mercy. You have to get on a stair lift to get onto the roof, the noise of this causes a horde to be summoned. You must kill all the infected untill you can proceed with normal game play.
    • Hunter: The huner is another antagonist in the game. This is a special infected that has more advanced capabilities that the common infected. The hunter can pounce great distances and pin you to the ground. Once pinned you can't get up untill another player shoot's/Melee's him off you. While pinned he will rip into you with his claws causing quite sufficient damage. The hunter can be identified by it's loud shrieking noise. When heard, keep your wit's about because he lurks on roofs, round corners and places where you can't get to.
    • Smoker: The smoker is also another antagonist in the game. He is a tall infected, that has a large tongue capable of shooting great distances. If he wrapps his tongue around you, he can drag you away from other players. Just like the hunter, if you are grabbed by the smoker, you can't do anything untill set free by another player. The smoker is identified by his wheezing noises, and if you see him, you will notice green smoker travelling around him. When killed, the smoker releases a cloud of smoke, that makes it difficult for you to see, you need to get out of the smoker to return to normal game-play.
    • The witch - The witch is one of the most powerful infected. Fighting the witch can be totally avoided if you turn off your flashlights and sneak around her. The witch is mainly identified by the change in music, it will turn to an eeary type of music. Once you see her, you will see that she is crouched on the floor crying. You can also hear the crying from a small distance away. Sometimes, another player may startle the witch by accident, you and your other players need to kill the witch by shooting her as quick as possible as she will kill the player who startled her. If the witch is startled, she will chase down the player who did so and try to kill them. She appears with a red glow, and it is currently unknown why she is called a Witch as she isn't depicted to look like the common witch.
    • The tank: The tank is probably the most powerful infected in the game. His appearence is vastly different to others as he is extremely muscly. The music will change when the tank see's a player and he will usually chase after the player he saw first, or the player closest. Because the tank is so muscly, he can hit you great distances, causing alot of damage. The whole team need to gang up to bring down the tank. Trying to take him on on your own will result in you being killed.

    I hope you find my information useful. As I said, you may already know about The infected, hordes, crescendo events, the witch etc, but I gave you the information just in case. I hope you enjoy the game as I do.

    Just as a reminder. Some of the players are not as pleasant to play with. There can be selfish players out there who run off on their own trying to be Rambo and do no come to help you when you need it. They will take all the health-packs even if you're close to dying. If you encounter one of these players, you should ask them to stop. If they persist on doing so, you should leave the game and join another.
    There are other people commonly known as ''Griefers''. These are people who react badly to other player not playing how they want them to. They will often steal ALL the health-packs, they will try and shoot and kill you, and they will often just stand around doing nothing, this result in the rest of the team not wanting to leave him behind, because you can't successfully complete part of the campaign untill all survivors are in the safe room. If you encounter one of these people, usually a vote-kick is initiated. This gives you the option to vote to kick him, or not-to kick him. It's reccommended that you vote to kick the player if he/she griefs.
    (DO NOT mistake someone firing their gun at you for a griefer. During parts of the game, you can get in their line of fire and end up being shot at, this is by pure accident!)

    Ah dude - that sucks

    Well, in my opinion, it will be worth the wait. It's bank holiday here too (I live in england and that's where I assume you live too).
