The little things that win matches...
Self sacrifice is admirable here and will often win matches. This doesn't mean rush into a group of 10 enemies shooting wildy and dying without hitting anyone, but careful self sacrifice can mean a win for your team.
Example: Often on dem maps, the win comes down to the second, determined by if the CT can disarm in time. Many times, seconds make or break this. Also, when it comes to rushing, planting, or any coordinated attack, seconds can make or break it. Not worrying about your K ratio, and sitting in a spot and carefully holding off the enemy can mean a win. If you're a T, the bomb is planted, there are 2 guys right on it, you can hold up the enemy even if it means dying. this means shooting where you know they are, throwing grenades, doing whatever it takes to waste time. Sure you may not be able to take 6 CT's, but if you can hold them back long enough for them to form a team attack to kill you, that time might be all that's needed for the bomb to detonate.
Another: If you're on CT on a dem map, and there is a skilled awper T gaurding the bomb, getting near it can be tough. Now, if 3 team mates go out simultaniously, chances are the awper will die and you can get to that bomb. Now, if the awper is skilled, odds are that 1 or 2 out of those 3 will die, but don't worry about that. If you die, that means one of your teammates might kill him, which benefits the team. Don't worry about your life here, worry about the team. Many times I see people go out one by one and get picked off one by one, because they are scared to rush out. A team effort can take down any skilled player, yes some of your guys will die, maybe even you, but by doing that, you are adding to the chances that your team will win.
If you see a player shooting, and you see him getting shot, back him up. Often times showing up at the right time can take out an enemy and save your teammate. I've seen too many cases of people seeing a shootout and hiding and waiting for the enemy to kill their teammate, so they can camp and get the enemy as he walks by. Usually this doesn't even work. Multiple people firing at one person is more likely to kill someone than hiding and trying to suprise someone.
Pay attention to who has the bomb! Everyone rushing site A will do nothing if the bomb guy goes to B, dies, and the entire CT team crowds the bomb. If you are on CT, and the bomb is dropped, let the entire team watch it. Everyone can get a different spot, but make sure everyone watches the bomb, the T cannot do anything if the entire CT team is together and around the bomb.

Ooooh, a bump from the past...
In searching for another post of mine I stumbled upon this little beauty.
This was from way back in 2006 when bigdog still played CSS regularly and before KingKoopa revealed his douchbaggery.
This is all still really good information for some of our newer members to read up on.
Please forgive the forum necromancy...
