Bad mic echo in CS:S

Please don't move this to hardware/technology, as it only applies to counterstrike. Everywhere else my mic is apparently fine.

I'm getting EXTREMELY frustrated with my mic echoing as of late. I'm using the following:

Realtek HD Audio (onboard sound)
Plantronics headset (the one EVERYONE recommended, not usb)

I've messed with just about everything I can possibly think of. I can't change any of my settings in counterstrike for some reason (like microphone gain boost, it's always on and I can't disable it)

I have noise suppression and acoustic echo cancellation both on. They seem to be quite ineffective.

PLEASE help.

Never mind on this one, my buddy MadToliet hooked me up with his old sound blaster. Now I can talk with no Echos! Finally a manufacturer who knows how to do DSP!

Hello,

I have been trying my hand at building a camp/vs map and find Valves included tutorial material to be very helpful but a bit shallow. I was wonderinf If anyone had links to other tutorial resources for L4D.

I am mainly interested in videos and ways to observe more professional builders' personal styles. I feel it takes me faaar to long to create simple things and would love to see how others are building their maps.
