Or when you're trying to hold B alone against an all out B rush and no one moves to tries to back you up. Yet I'm probably guilty of it.

Re: The mental side of CS

This is very true i have found that about 25 to 50% of CSS is mental. my friends even notice that when I'm pissed off and in a bad mood my playing sucks. But when I'm having fun cracking jokes i do good. For example last week i had just won a golf tournament between me and our friends i came home and played CSS and did really well. Then a couple of days later when my sister came into my room and blew out my stereo and pissed me off and my dad blamed me. Well when i played that night i sucked with only a couple of kills and and ton of deaths. The people i played with asked why i was so quite and the reason why i was yelling and blaming people left and right. I realized that i was night in the right mental state and i wasn't playing for fun i was just running around trying to the the shit out of every one i saw. When i was the one getting the shit blown out of me.
So if your playing bad stop take a deep breath and thing o everything your doing and work with your team and your mod will change and eventually your Kills to Death ratio will go up.

Re: The mental side of CS

    Interesting, intelligent post.

I do think that "skill" is a somewhat irrelevant factor in gaming, because there are very few games that you can accurately compare "skill" between: you can't really compare skill in CS with skill in DoD, for example, because the two games play so differently at so many levels. Likewise, skill with UT can't really be directly compared to skill with Quake, because the two are very different - people obviously know UT is vastly superior, but Quake was there first, so there's always a handful of diehards who refuse to accept reality.

I definitely wouldn't call CS balanced (not when ak47, m4a1, and deagle are pretty much the best guns in the game, barring specific guns for specific uses, like awp or scout for sniping or mp5navy when you're broke), but it's still a lot of fun just the same - and there's gotta be a reason so many people play it at the competitive level, even completely ignoring how long it's been around. As far as difficulty, I'd say CS:S (I've never played 1.6) is much easier to pick up and play than, say, DoD:S since you don't have to be concerned with your weapon's recoil, and you can generally take several hits (anywhere but the head, and even then you can take a couple in the head from SMGs, rifles, and even the shotgun at close range if you've got a helmet) before finally dying, whereas you're almost certainly dead after four hits from any weapon in DoD, and frequently dead in one or two - headshots are universally lethal at any range with any weapon.

But I'm gonna stop now before this turns into a "fuck CS, play DoD" rant (which will probably become an article whenever I stop being lazy) and just say thanks for the good read.

About 3 months late on this reply LOL...but yeah glock I agree. But DoD still is teh suck imo. CoD2 was more fun for me.

Re: The mental side of CS

    Wow, very good.
I've recently taken a step back to look at how I act and react to things while gaming. When I'm doing good I'm usually not talking alot unless I have to, like say calling out hostiles after I die or calling for a revive. When I start doing bad though I've noticed that I start goofing off and trying not to take things to seriously (thinking it will put me back in my care free killing everything state of mind) and end up doing even worse because of it.

    Very good post.
