Thread: Choke

Bots are okay, but can be irritating. Like Hunter on the Prowl said, they always have to walk into a sit puddle and at least take some damage. They usually all walk in at the same time and I have to hear "Get out of the burning shit spittin' stuff!". They don't seem to be very good at keeping up either, they always lag behind when you move ahead. This is more of a problem in L4D1, but the bots still aren't the greatest in either game.

They will randomly "detect" items in a closet halfway across the map, but other times they won't pick an item that is staring them in the face. In particular, the L4D1 bots take forever to pick up a tier 2 weapon, and when they do, it's usually not the one they are programmed to take . They always travel together in a slow, huddled-up group. If I dodge a Charger it almost always hits all three of the bots behind me because they line themselves up for perfect scattering rams.

In general, bots are just a nuisance. They can't defend themselves when surrounded by zombies. They get stuck on random objects. They teleport to other survivors that get pinned in versus mode, even if the survivor is separated from the group. The only way to be successful with the bots is to walk slowly, melee them every time a zombie gets near them, and hope for the best.

They aren't always like that though. Sometimes they work great. Sometimes they are annoying. Most of the time it's just a crapshoot.

When in doubt, remember my motto- If bots fail you, use them as a meatshield.
