Re: SNF and what it should be.....

    1) If there is a lot more communication going on, then you should be doing better than the regular server since you do have a team full of regs who are communicating and it won't be dumb luck of a random noob/non-reg if you win. If your team is getting your asses handed to you, then you need to work together as a team, and find a way to work it out and out smart/play the other team and win. The last map I played, Pira, is a great example. We started out as Ts and for the most part got our asses handed to us, but we managed something like 5 wins I think. When we switched, we needed to win a majority of the rounds just to win the map, and it came down to us winning by 1 round I believe in the end because we worked together and communicated more and learned from our mistakes.

    2) It just depends on when you get on and play, but those maps, are played a decent amount as p3 said. Just looking at my pstats for those 2 maps on the reg server, I have about 3 hours logged playing on both so that is at least a good 6+ times we've been to those maps each. I say that because I know they were voted off rather quickly a few times because when we did first get them it was hard for people to learn and it wasn't played entirely, other times the map would get extended if we had a good group on. And I know those maps have been played much more than that as I've seen them being played when I either couldn't play or didn't want to at the time, but I enjoy those maps and try to get on them whenever I can.

It might not be as common in recent months, I can't really say as my CS time is down as well, but they were very popular maps and are still played pretty regularly enough that most people should know these maps or have at least a handful of regs on their team to help them out with said map.

    3) Picking teams is always going to be tricky because we do have a large amount of regs and we all don't know each other as well as we know some others because we play at different times or different servers (reg or top5 more than the other) and people will just pick who they know by name or by their teams recommendations. Its a hard thing to try to work out especially with people randomly leaving/joining the server during a match. They don't know who to join, and sometimes just auto, or go with the loosing team. It also hurts when as p3 said, one of your first picks randomly leaves the server without saying anything to his teammates or anyone else on the server. Sometimes those things are unavoidable though (i.e. power/internet goes out, family emergency, etc.) so it is to be expected.

SNF is suppose to be fun though, so picking teams shouldn't be much of an issue anyways, and everyone should be more relaxed, but it seems everyone is taking this way too seriously and we should be happy to play together 1 night for 2-3+ maps together as a true TTP only filled server which is not something that happens a lot on the regular servers because of the random connections (which I'm not complaining about either since they could be future regs anyways, that's how we grow). Just play smart, have fun, and communicate if you don't want to loose/get your ass handed to you. Remember you can AWP/Auto as well even if you dislike it, but if that is an issue for you, then save up for one and put the other team in place or find a way to kill them and waste their money. You have many choices at your disposal such as smokes, flashes, HEs, and other long range weapons that shoot much faster and are more accurate/powerful (except AWP in terms of power) to counter act said weapons. There really is nothing more enjoyable than to kill an AWPer with something such as an M4, AK, or even an SMG such as the p90 or mp5.

And it's fine Mako, it just was a tense arguement between the teams when you joined and you kind of got stuck in the middle of it. Only way you'll know is play in them and learn. Don't worry about it too much man.

Mako I really wasn't trying to call you out, and I'm not mad at you; I was just pointing out the fact that once we have an agreement for something, thta agreement should be kept, I'm not mad at you or anyone else about events that transpired last night.

Guys, I agree a little with slippy and a little with Bunni and Keiron.

The entire point of SNF is to be a DIFFERENT environment and play situation than the reg server, so you have to accept that or just get off the match server and play on the reg. You're not talking about even teams in number, but as in people. Yes, the other weekend with EvO all on CT side was pretty rough BUT is it their fault? Just because they're good doesn't mean they have power to pick their own team. Whoever was the T-side captain should have decided to pick 2 or 3 of them.

Even though a normal scrim is 5v5, these maps arn't REQUIRED to play 5v5. 10v10 doesn't make it any harder. 5v5 CAL scrimmages are also 1:20, where ours was a bit longer. Playing mill on 10v10 is not a big deal. Sure there's choke points but that's common for every map.

*sigh* AWPing. Some were saying that it is unfair that they were against a team of AWPers, etc etc. The reality is "we" had only 3-4 awpers per round. 4/10 = 2/5, which is the TYPICAL number of awpers in a 5v5 scrim. If you're sick of AWPers, COUNTER AWP. use a deagle for 2 rounds, get some kills, and buy yourself an AWP. OR just have two people throw smoke nades in the AWP sight. *DUH* You guys got pissy when Silas and Duddy were covering mid on de_fire when they were on CT side. Well, they were both covering mid on T side as well. Its NOT a one-way street.

I was disappointing to see the fun SNF go down to what it was, people leaving, people bitching, and people being immature. What some people were saying was - "IF WE WERE ON THE REG SERVER, I WOULD BE PWNING YOU!"....then hop on the reg server for god's sake.

People didn't shutup until we hit piranesi in which Bunni said "How bout you guys can just go talk about this in a BAN APPEAL?"

It shouldn't have to come to that guys, I hope next weekend will be better.

I thank Bunni for trying to control the situation as best as he could, and for the people who stuck through SNF without complaining. Thanks Guys.

Re: SNF and what it should be.....

so is snf supposed to be fun or a pain in the ass?...

after all the reading it seems like no one knows what the rules should be and if we should change everything around, i thought it was supposed to be fun but all this commotion seems frustrating nd unorganized. we need to figure out what the hell to do and get it going smooth

if you want me to step up and organize it i will, so dont try and say i didint want/try to help

if its not supposed to be fun id like to start a different night when we can have an around night that helps us actually get away from the CS:S world and mic spam and run around killing people. thats what i used the gun game server for, fing around w/ my buddies

Re: SNF and what it should be.....

well i think the main concern is organization... the rules can be adapted to the situation. All this was ment just as a discussion to get some concerns, complaints, and ideas out in the open. This isnt all coming from my mouth... much of it is grumblings i have heard from others whether shared with me or not... and i felt the need to censor it and bring it out there for everyone to see.
