Last Night's de_aztec
I'm normally not one to play aztec. Blech, I hate the damned map. If I see people voting aztec the map prior, I always announce over the mic, "If you're voting aztec, you'd better be going T side!" ....I think we all know why.
Well, the teams were...fairly even...but regardless of our strat, CT's were wiping the floor with us. They were a disciplined CT team who didn't rush or stray from sites. Slow-playing water then hitting B or A just WASN'T going to work on this team like it usually does.
Once the admin switched a few people over, we still were getting beat a couple rounds. I think the score was like 7-1 or 9-1 at some point. Then, (not too toot my own horn) I took the reigns and started making some...different...calls.
Every round, EVERYONE had to buy a smoke. We were smoking double doors and then hitting bridge fifteen seconds later. Smoking the hell out of double doors and A-site connecter and then hitting B. Smoking the hell out of bridge room and straight rushing it and out the back to A site. Smoking the hell out of the water and then coming right back up and hitting double doors/B ramp. Smoking both bridge room and right outside double doors and then hitting the water. Us T's started winning! I think we had the CT's confused just about every round. Now, these strats would've NEVER worked if only 3 or 4 of us bought smokes every round. EVERYONE had to buy them. We had to make the CT's strain and move out of comfort spots to hit them. I've actually got a few more that I want to try.
Coming up with new strats, or rarely used strats, for a map is always super fun, and it's bad ass when it works. But, there is nothing like your entire team pitching in and executing that plan to perfection. Sig That!

Re: Last Night's de_aztec
I started out on CT... and yes while the teams were quite even we were playing it well. We were making sure we held the sites.. didnt over peak or over push. I got switched over to T when it was like 8-1 along with 1 or 2 others. First thing i heard was pineapple taking control. He made some of the most interesting calls ive heard on Aztec. And the T team started pulling them out flawlessly. We executed them most of the time perfectly.. completely fooling the CT's... getting the smokes right were they needed to be and pulling off some great flashes and nades. I think we lost a total of maybe 2 rounds after that point winning almost every time. The teams were still quite even but the T's just had some wonderfull calls and played smart.
Pineapple those were some of the BEST calls and leadership ive EVER seen in the TTP server and that was one of the most enjoyable maps i think ive played in a while... and on aztec 2 ^.^

Re: Last Night's de_aztec
I remember the other day it was Oni and I on T on aztec. Along with a handful of fresh, maybe new regs. The other team had a few seasoned regs, and also some new guys.
We were waisting them, and it felt good for a change. We had a definite plan each round and everyone stuck to it. We all followed each other and steam rolled the other team. It was great.

I had a similar experience on Dust2 the other night except I was on the losing end. I forget who was making calls for the Ts, I think Bunni, but everything he called was a "double", or even "triple fake. Flash B, down the stairs to short A. Flash long, mid to B. Flash B, down the stairs, mid to B.
They were great calls because our team was half decent, and half retards. As soon as we saw one guy we would start calling that site, and most of the team rotated. Then the Ts would walk to the other site with little or no opposition. Myself and a couple of others tried to explain to them to wait for the bomb, but to no avail. I gave props to the other team for figuring out our weakness and exploiting it to the fullest.

Re: Last Night's de_aztec
I remember last night T's were having a hard time at Dust 2. The confused fruit Made some calls that were great. Mostly consisting of throwing most of the team A and three of the better members of the team sticking behind to cover our backs. When we tookt he site it was great because you had reliable people to guard it. If we didn't take A it was one of two options: Go B and plant as A is where all of the T's ran off to, or Clean up the mess at A and collect the survivors. I rarely lived to see the bomb planted but meh, that was my doing. :9 Go leadership!
