Help!!

I am kinda stuck.. and need some CS:S support...

Every time I launch CSS I can connect to a server.. as soon as the server loads, (aka, i can see the map, see the server screen) but then it locks up. I am unable to join a team, it just locks.

First steps I took were... Uninstall CSS, and then Reinstall. That didnt work, so I uninstalled CSS, uninstalled Steam, then Reinstalled Steam and CSS, but it still is fucked up.... anyone have this problem before? help!!! i am screwed I think.

Hmmm....that only happens to me when I have a connection problem.

does it do this on any other game or just cs? it sounds more like a hardware problem than anything else. i would get latest drivers, dust and reinsert vid card, ram, and processor. clean off and re-apply thermal compound to heatsink for processor. make sure processor fan is still working(simply an overheated processor could cause this). you would be amazed at what dust can do to a computer. if the problem still continues to persists, if you have more than one stick of ram, i would alternate 1 at a time to see if you have a bad stick. if at all possible, try a different video card. try an older one if you have one, or try to borrow one from someone. same thing with the processor if you can. try all these 1 at a time to help narrow it down. process of elimination. let me know how things go. later.

everything seems to be working just fine, connection is great, and i play on a laptop so switching out hardware is kind of out of the queston. only thing i can think that has changed is some windows updates that were applied some time yesterday. i am gonna post on the Steam forums and see if anyone is having the same issue. Vista FTL...

and what i dont understand.. some servers i CAN play on.. others lock up, TTP servers are unfortantly locking up.. grrr

As of yesterday for me it started doing what I think you are talking about, you click either team and it stays on the choose a team menu, just hit m, and it will reset, worked for me. It's like the tab option is getting stuck, hope that's what it is for you as well.

You also might want to make sure your firewall or windows defender isn't blocking steam or half life. Or if you have norton make sure it is set to allow steam or hl2.

well.. thanks for the help.. i am still having the problem.. and what makes no sense is that I was able to connect to top5 and play tonight (about 2 minutes ago) but then the server changed maps and it locked up again... doesnt happen on all servers tho...
