    cl_interp....why won't you go to 0.01!

    It is my understanding that the console command "cl_interp #" interpolates player positions # seconds in the past. My bullet registration has always been best when this setting is ".01". I have an autoexec.cfg file that loads "cl_interp .01" every time I start the game. The problem that I am having is that the setting will not change from ".039" which seems to be default. Even if I load it manually in console it will not change from ".039". I should note that I check the setting by typing "cl_interp" in console and then hit enter. I get a line that says cl_interp =.039, even after loading it manually . Is there a server limit that I am not aware of, or am I doing something wrong? I have been having registration issues lately, and am wondering if this is the culprit. Here is a copy of my autoexec.cfg file(a slimmed down version of Casey's cfg):

    cl_crosshairalpha 9999
    cl_dynamiccrosshair 0
    cl_crosshairscale 2000
    cl_cmdrate 101
    cl_interpolate 1
    cl_interp 0.01
    cl_lagcomp_errorcheck 1 // 0 Disables lagcompensation error checking, only needed if you're having any registration/loss/choke problems.
    cl_lagcompensation 1
    cl_smooth 1
    cl_updaterate 101
    rate "30000"
    cl_forcepreload 1"// Forces the game to load all texture and model information into memory on map load.
    cl_phys_props_enable 1 // Enables physics props.
    cl_phys_props_max 50 // Maximum amount of physics props allowed.
    mat_monitorgamma 1.6 // Lower the number the brighter the screen. //Only works in fullscreen.//
    violence_ablood 1
    violence_agibs 1
    violence_hblood 1
    violence_hgibs 1// increases blood to see hits
    //_Set HUD vars_
    hud_centerid 1 // Centers player IDs
    net_graph 3 // Enables net_graph (Required in SS round)
    //_Set Misc settings_
    cl_downloadfilter nosounds // Disables annoying pub sound downloads
    fps_max 101 // Caps framerate. Set to max monitor refresh rate + 1.
    jpeg_quality 100 // High quality screenshots
    clear
    echo Mebad's config has loaded

    I think it has something to do with the tickrate of the server. The lower I set my cl_updaterate, the higher my cl_interp goes by default. Since ttp is a 66 tick server I can't go any higher than 66 for updaterate, and subsequently can't go any lower than .039 for interp.

    And in source you cannot directly change your interp. In 1.5 you could manually change the value in console as you wanted. It was considered "clean hacking" back in the day because it was built into the system. Now it is integrated into the server settings so everyone is on a level playing field and so that players cannot automatically adjust it themselves.

    Well hell, I guess I will have to blame my crappy aim on something else then lol. Makes sense have default settings though. I have played cs off and on since beta, and I remember when people would adjust their settings so that they would warp all over with past images so that you couldn't hit them. I didn't realize that they put a clamp on cl_interp in source though All in all though I guess I prefer a level playing field. Thanks for the reply Duddy.
