Attention CS:S TTPers. I need some help.

I need a bit of your help. Since I respect and listen to most of you I decided to post my question here (even though it is only slightly CSS related.)

For graduation ym parents said theyd buy me any laptop I wanted, within reason of course. I've asked a couple of my laptop savvy buddies (I only know desktop) and I've gotten a few good suggestions. It never hurts to get some more opinions.

I am looking for an excellent gaming laptop and preferably one that looks nice too and is cheaper than $2000. Give me your best suggestions of lappys within this range. Thanks for your help in advance. Ill post links to the ones Im looking at.

And just so its CSS related . . . what is your favorite side to play on and why?

Jesus, SLI in a laptop! That's overkill man.

I'd say any of those beasts would be able to run CSS just fine.

Are you planning on continuing to use this thing for future high end gaming? If so, my best advice would be to spend that money on a high end desktop instead. You'll get a much better bang for your buck.

Yeah, Nexus, a desktop might be better.

You could go parts crazy for 1500 bucks, then nab a low end laptop or a solid netbook for classes and such. My finace just got her acer Aspire 1 yesterday. Once you put ubuntu NBR on it, it runs like a champ.

Well I mean I already have a pretty decent gaming rig. But since I'm going to college I would rather not haul that back home all the time so I'm planning on using the Laptop as my primary gaming machine while on breaks. I do play alot of high end games so a I do need a pretty decent one.

And yeah I was thinking SLI was overkill too haha. I wish they made that same model but with say a 9650m Gt 1024 mb or just a regular 9800M.

Keep in mind gaming laptops only have 45mins to 1 hour of battery power, so you can't do much without power unless you want to tote around lots of batts along with the heavy laptop. They really are basically a small desktop unit.

This is from personal experience, I had a 17" power laptop and after about 2 weeks of lugging that huge thing around in a huge case and traveling with it, I went back to a 14".

which is why I was suggesting a netbook. 9" is much more manageable. Besides, if you're worried about taking the desktop home, just get a second monitor/keyboard/etc. That way you just have to take the tower home when you leave. that's just a minor bit bigger than a backpack/briefacase full of 17" laptop, massive power supply, etc.

Its gonna take good money to get the laptop if you want to play high end graphics, for the same money though you could have a demon of a desktop. Just my opinion.

If your parent are "Hip" enough... buy one off ebay.

They sell TONS of new, in-box, warrantied laptops on ebay.

Usually you can configure one on dell for example at $2000 and find it on ebay for ~1k (what I did)
