is it worth buying for some off time ?
I'm kinda old and slow and depend on tactics and strategery

I wouldn't put css anywhere near the slow category. Tactics and "strategery" are impotant, but when it comes to killing others, it relies heavily on about (from my limited experience) 90% quick, precise reactions and 200% luck.

    Re: Just got CS:S

There are so many varying playstyle's that is hard to say. Certainly there is strategy involved, but the action itself is very much about conditioning And/OR quick reflexes. Unfortunately most of the maps dont have a great deal of distanced slow combat going on in them.

For the most part its about either running your ass off to get into a good position, or holding/walking to position to spook someone. But again, there are SO many ways this game can go. I would say it is worth the try if you dont mind the initial steep experience curve you will run into.

Will likely improve your close combat skill in BF/PR as well.

As GReYVee said, it's a very big learning curve, and way different than most fps's. It's a fast game and aiming will only get you so far. It's a great game once you know what the hell is going on. If you like strategy, the closest think you will get to that is making calls on T side. Hope to see you in game.

    Re: Just got CS:S

I gotta disagree with you guys on this one, if you are playing to win, it is ALL about strategy. Certainly having a good shot is important, but it's much better to put yourself in a good enough position that you don't have to rely on making nice shots, but instead work crossfires with your teammates and covering eachother's backs and blind spots.

Be aware of your teammates on the radar and you will have an easier time getting into the game and less frustration from being shot in the back and whatnot.

Yah, big learning curve especially if you start off on TTP! It can be hard to start with the best

Develop your own play style, and watch players you think are good. I have been playing CS for years and still learn different angles, strats, techniques, etc. every day. Patience is a virtue.
