lag spikes

I vaguely remember this. I believe you were not having much of a problem that night. If you got an ethernet cable that will make it to your computer it will be easier to determine if the problem is actually your wireless or not -- always better to isolate the cause of the problem before you start dicking around with settings.

My question is regarding how consistant the problem is? All the time, some of the time. certain times of the day/night? when others are also using it?

if it happens everytime you play about once a round it is prolly that same problem i had. If you have the driver disc that came with your wireless card use that to get your internet. Won't do anyharm if it doesnt fix the problem anyway. it will just use a different utility to get your internet from. Once this problem was fixed it was heaven for me i loved it.

I have windows vista and I tried running that program while I played and it was still jumpy.

And yeah its really consistent I cant play a round of CS, L4D, etc. without everyone teleporting every 30 seconds.

The most frustrating part about it is that I concentrate more on worrying about the lag than I do the actual game so I'm not nearly as good as I am when playing like at a friends house on a different computer.

I think I just fixed the problem by changing the router channel from auto to 1. Its been along time since I've played a game with no spikes!

Sweet. Trig had to do something similar with his wireless. All the same I hope to catch you in game while someone is microwaving popcorn in the house. (microwaves kick wifi's ass)
