The worst thing that can happen at Dust 2 is that everyone turns looks at lower and the first three with bomb rushes B. They all proceed to die, bomb is now down in B and 6 T's are just waiting to get flanked because they didn't push as a team.

and you're right, it's terrible when people don't follow the call or distort thier role in it. but that's an administrative issue, not a theoretical one.

in theory you should have someone watch your back, jack. that person should be the one in the best position to do it, whether it be the 3rd man in line or the last. the question of whether it should happen or not really stems from people doing it when they shouldn't. the 1st guy for instance going lower, or the man in the middle of the pack fading back to cover the rear. that is player driven behavior counter to what the situation may call for.

that's what makes covering your ass seem unacceptable, when in reality there is nothing wrong with cya in certain rushes on certain maps where it is warranted. to say it is never warranted is absolutism at best and reckless at worst.

Well I mean, When I'm CT on Inferno Banana Rush is just kind of out of the question. Because whichever way I go... Banana will be my slaughterhouse :6

It sounds like you came back to help your team take B abit late. Watching the flank is fine as long as you fall into line with the rest of the team as soon as there is no one left to cover. You dont stay to get that one pick.

Even in a "Around the world" call, with Ts staggered out abit on their way back to B, your stay in tunnels is minimal. I like to simplify things visually.

If you go to the blue dot your only job is to look, flash, and fall back with the team.
If you go the green dot, you face the tunnel from courtyard until everyone passes.
Or rush with the team, and look behind you until you make it to the green dot. (best option, everyone watches the flank this way)

Your goal is making it to at least the yellow dot. While the action is taking place. Not after all is said, dead, and done.
Otherwise, you just bailed on your team, sitting around in tunnels to catch maybe two rotaters. Not smart nor helpful. Ts need to overwhelm the balcony, grass, and site as quickly as possible. Best done with everyone present.

Why do players get upset with "flank watchers"? Because they tend to always be the same people -- and no matter how much they kid themselves into thinking they are helping the team, the truth is they don't wanna be in the cluster of dead that almost always happens in a rush. They want to slink around during all the action and pick people here and there. And maybe win. But you know what.. as long as everyone piles in on a rush and executes decently it means taking the site. Holding a site in most maps only takes 2-3 people. It's taking the site thats a bitch. Especially on cbble.

Its like in aztec no one wants to be the first out on a double door rush cause if your lucky you just get naded to hell. If you unlucky you get teamflashed naded to hell and teabagged by some fucker who thought he was so skilled in killing a terrorist on a stacked map
