Rates and console commands after the update
Hey guys.
Finally got to play css for the first time with the new updates. Been super busy with summer classes:/ I was wondering if the old rates still apply after the update (updaterate 101 cmdrate 101 rate 30000), or if there are new/old console commands that should or should not be messed with. If anybody has a link that explains the new changes/updates I would love to read about it. Thanks.
MeBadDid I say that or was I just thinking it?

This is what is being suggested:
cl_updaterate 66
cl_cmdrate 66
rate 100000 (If your net can handle it, otherwise playing with the typical 25K-30K is fine)
cl_interp_ratio 1
cl_interp .0151515
cl_smooth 1
might not work for u
if not, try interp ratio 2, and interp .033 or
cl_lagcompensation 1
cl_lagcomp_errorcheck 1Last edited by Sundance; 06-30-10 at 01:57 AM.

Yea, just mess with the numbers a bit and see what works for you. First thing I would check is the rate. Be sure it is set at something that your internet can handle.
Internet speeds - Converted to bytes/what your rate could be set atDsl 256kbits download - 32768
1mb - 131072
2mb - 262144
3mb - 393216
6mb - 786432
If that doesn't help, try setting the cl_lag commands to 0. If it still doesn't help, try setting cl_interp to 0. But, if you're going to mess with the interp, be sure to turn on net_graph 1. You'll want to make sure that the lerp value on there is still white. If it's any other color, that's not good and you'll need to adjust either the interp or the ratio.
The rates I posted were being suggested because a lot of people we're experience lag post patch, and this helped with that. I know my game and reg got a lot better after putting these into my cfg. Anyway, just mess with the numbers a bit and see what works for you.
Also, you shouldn't have to mess with cmd/update rates. Even if you set them higher, the server is capped at 66-67. So just try messing with the other stuff.

Re: Rates and console commands after the update
I don't understand all this rates stuff but after reading several threads I edited some values and now I'm getting killer registration with a lerp of 13.5ms solid white (cl_interp .0135). Generally I've read that you want the lerp as low as possible while staying white - you could get down to 10.0ms but orange or yellow, which means you might have packet loss. So find values which work with your with the following settings:
rate 100000
cl_updaterate 150
cl_cmdrate 150 (these two yielded a lower possible all-white lerp than with 66 or 100)
cl_interp_ratio 1
cl_interp .0135 (this is what you edit for fine tuning - i started at .2, then did linear bisection or whatever to get to the lowest value which left my lerp white)
