Help please Gentlemen!

Ok guys, here is the deal. This has only been happening over the last week or so, I open up counterstrike, join a tpg server and immediately begin to lag. Like hardcore. I usually have about 300 ping, and on the score bored i have 300-350. I have thought of no possible reason as to why this could be happening. Does anybody have any sort of fix that I might try? Ideas? HELP! Thanks. (oh and it also only lasts for about 5-10 minutes, and then the ping for the server goes back to around 60 or so. Normally it's in the thousands when this is acting up?) Is there anything that can be done or do I just have to wait it out?

i had the exact same problem, and thought it was a variety of things

long story short, your server list is STILL refreshing after you join a game. stop it and you'll be good.
(i think that's right...)

Even if i'm just in favorites? I don't even go to the internet tab.

Correct. It's something they seemed to have changed. It will start doing an internet refresh regardless of tab you are on. On top of that, it is done poorly (it tries to ping literally 500+ servers at a time).
