Time Out Issue.
Ive been able to connect to the servers but after I load the map, and see the MOTD, I time out. Its driving me insane bcus i dont know what the hell to do. Ive had my modem replaced 3 times by time warner bcus it would over heat and crash. This latest one has held up with no crashing but now I have this problem.

LoL im having the same problem... I've just left it alone b/c I can still get on... I don't want to start trying to fix it when i can still play... I know if i start messing with it i will do something to mess everything up.. Then i wont be able to play

What happens if you "create server"?
You've defragged, have you also tried "Delete local game content"?
What happens after the load up fails? Crash to desktop with error? CTD with no error just poofs? In game error?
Console stuff looks fairly normal, I get texture and vertex load fails too but it doesn't kill the game. Try n help ya crack it.
Edit: trying to clarify because words like crash and time-out are often used interchangeably by the "less smarter pplz".Last edited by GReYVee; 09-03-10 at 06:10 PM.

Well we dug for abit. I checked that his actual internet connection was staying stable, and it was.
He has reinstalled CSS earlier, but I have little faith in a clean uninstall of the source engine.
Did some basic OS port wipes. Driver reinstall.
We tested ports out strait DMZ with no security on and his inbound TCP ports for source are working fine.
Pin reset his Wireless gateway, tested his lan/wan responses. All come out flying colors.
Basically he connects to either CSS or TF2, and the connection times out. Sometimes steam disconnects along with it. He is otherwise stable and able communicate on other protocols fine.
At this stage I believe its the Wireless Gateway not handling the stream (modem/router combo with wireless).
Or some off the wall problem in the OS.
At this point we bailed with the following steps suggested: remove security software, swap gateway for regular modem, reinstall OS -- each being tested in that order. Very abnormal issue. Sorry pabz, wish we had an easy success tonight, been looking forward to playing with ya.
