    OS Paged Pool Memory Error

I didn't used to get this, and now I do. Virus scan doesn't pick up anything, but maybe it's just missing it... my paged pool goes up to about 300 MB and then crashes (3x today) when I play CS:S, after 30-60 minutes. It steadily uses up more and more pages and eventually crashes. Any ideas? I have 2 GB of RAM and it's always been fine before a couple months ago. I only have 37 GB free on the partition with CS:S and am clearing some stuff off of that partition (which is 500 GB) but not sure this will fix it.

what os? you need to do a mem scan, (reboot spam f-keys, look for check memory or something of the link), or i can send you an iso to burn and pop in.

I'm using WinXP. I'll try the windows memory scan once these files finish copying over to my other partition. Is the one you are referring to checking RAM or hard disk? Thanks.

I had this problem to, still have just in less frequency as I used to now. Used this temporary fix from a search on google.

Start -> Right Click My Computer -> Properties -> Advanced -> Performance Settings -> Advanced -> Change

From this increase your paging file size to a larger number than you have now. I did this and I am getting less crashes cuz of it.

Update, I noticed in Task Manager that when I have this problem, the System process has over 1 million handles and over 100 threads. Perhaps I have a virus? I might need to reformat if I can't get this thing with any of my virus scan tools...

I always catch viruses with AVG.. I have ESET pro and i was scanning for a virus and it never could find it.. I downloaded the free version of AVG and it finds it everytime...

AVG just slows my comp down so all I do is DL it and scan and delete my virus and then delete AVG off the comp

Just a suggestion on the Virus Scanner.

Re: OS Paged Pool Memory Error

Update: I installed a new sound card driver, after seeing that some people were seeing System take a million handles due to memory leaks in sound drivers, and I played CS:S for hours without System getting more than 1000 handles. If you are getting OS Paged Pool Memory errors, try getting an updated sound driver! This one wasn't a problem until the last month or two of CS:S updates!
