    I have no idea if this is related, but it seemed to work for me:

    Windows 7 apparently throttles the amount of packets sent at a time, so I removed this. Here is the link: How to use the throttling mechanism to control network performance in Windows Vista

    And here are the steps. READ THE LINK FIRST! Don't mess with your registry unless you are very careful. You could seriously screw things up.
    * Open regedit
    * Go to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Multimedia\SystemProfile
    * There will be an entry for network performance throttling, default value is 10; set it to FFFFFFFF hex (willl look like 0xFFFFFFFF to the right of the entry)
    * Reboot
    Yeah, I'm on XP. Checked out the registry key but that is not there. Good news though is Valve has stated as of yesterday they've narrowed down the cause of the memory leak and are working on a fix. Will see how it goes, but they've been pretty good about this since the oB migration

    Yay!

    It's funny though. I've been talking to a guy from steam support for several months now. He keeps telling me all this shit to do to try to fix it that has to do with drivers and reinstalling and whatnot. I thought it was pretty obvious that it was a memory issue associated with the scoreboard and that Valve would have to patch it. Even after they patched it he still sent me another way to try reinstalling. I'm really glad its finally fixed, and I don't have to keep trying to get help from their support. Now I'm going to have to reformat so I can get the OS I had on before I tried to fix that crash =/.
