Re: Clan vs clan
Scrimming and playing 5v5 matches are completely different monsters than the 10v10 games here at TPG. If you want to be a successful team, you need to be willing to put in more time practicing, strategizing, rehearsing strats, deathmatching, etc and less time on TPG. Your playtime is seriously going to be 100 to 1, scrim and practice time vs TPG play time. It is a commitment some people here are not going to be willing to accept.
Now I would be more than willing to lead a TPG team if that was asked of me, but I will say I am going to be very demanding of that team because I would want them to succeed and give TPG a good rep out there on this scene. ALSO we may have to use TPG as the tag for the team even though I know bd would be against it.

I agree with Fajita. There are many players who play at TPG who have been in previous leagues and have scrim experience, but that doesn't mean that there aren't players who have no scrim experience who play on TPG that have GREAT potential on a scrim team. I believe that this shouldn't just be put together in a week or two. If we really want to put a ELITE team together it will take a couple of months and a lot of dedication from players who actually want to be apart of this team. For example I for one do not have a lot of scrim experience. I have started scrimming with dB4d for a month or so now and am quickly learning the tactics of scrimming. But with more practice and having players with experience teach me the ways I know I could compete with the best.
Just because you have scrim experience doesn't mean that you are guaranteed a spot. I would bet to say that there are many players in this community that have great potential to be on a scrim team. I agree with idunn that there will have to be many tiers and tryouts to see who will be the best fit for this team. We will have to have a head council who will decide who has the best potential and who has the skill for the TPG scrim team. I'm sure Vafa has some ideas of who this council would consist of. With so many players wanting to tryout, there can be NO bias to friends or people with previous experience. Everyone should be viewed equal from the start which will ensure that the best of the best will be chosen.

Re: Clan vs clan
I had envisioned something different than what I'm seeing posted. I thought we should have a TPG Open/Invitational format that has a SNF feel to it. Think of it like this:
- 1 match a Month or Quarter to give it a limited feel
- On a Map of the Month or Quarter
- 5v5
- Single elimination, bracket style, - Teams are formed and seeded initially, then future seedings are based on the past tournaments results
- Any competitive team is invited (includes tpg regs/clans or teams that don't play here)
- TPG provides the servers and some sort of prize.
This seems better to me than forming a TPG team, or A, B, and C TPG teams, and then exporting that talent to other servers/competitive leagues, etc. Teams that participate in the TPG open can scrim/practice and play competitively wherever they wish. But this creates a specific TPG event, with TPG branding, TPG awards/prizes that specifically promote TPG's servers/style of play and leverages our existing clan/community base well.
PS - Many of you may recognize this format and that's because it's not new. This is how many of the great Invitationals/Sporting events of the world in track & field, tennis, golf, basketball, etc. are run. It's proven, and it's fun.
The TPG open. I like it.

I like the "open" format that (2)Manno described. It'd be fun and make people less likely to go into some monk-like 5-day-per-week scrim practice schedule or whatever (so that we keep them on the servers). Maybe even some kind of double-elimination thing where if you lose first round you play someone else who lost first round, so that if your team hits some juggernaut in round 1 you'll play someone more your speed in round 2.
