    Why choose teamplayergaming?

    Re: Why choose teamplayergaming?

Like several others here, I happened to find TPG randomly on my server list earlier this summer. Actually, I think I ran across "Texas TeamPlayers" a few times waaay back in the day when I didn't really play Source yet (I was a die-hard 1.6'er for a very long time). I actually ended up getting kicked a few times the first day I played, because I had my voice chat disabled and didn't know I was supposed to follow the calls. I had it disabled because every other CS:S server I played on tends to be full of noobs/idiots spamming the mic with alltalk enabled. Once an admin explained it to me in text, I enabled my mic and decided to give it a shot, though I was skeptical of this whole idea of "following the calls" in a pub.

It was only after I played here for a few days that I realized how jaded I'd become toward CS:S servers in general. I was annoyed the first time someone yelled at me for not following the calls, and I thought "follow the calls? It's a pub. No one follows calls." Within a couple maps I saw how seriously people took team playing here, and that there were a lot of skilled regulars who knew how to organize a team. It amazed me when I heard someone say "Rush B" and then saw the entire team rush B with no hesitation. It struck me how well the server had to be admin'ed, for a long period of time, to get a following like that. After a few days I realized that this is how the game was meant to be played... the right way... not only in scrims and matches, but all games in general. The wrong way has gotten to be such a norm that I didn't even recognize something great when it first reached out and slapped me in the face.

That is the gist of why I began playing at TPG. The reason I've stayed is because of the great community and the people that make it work. It has been a very long time (about nine years) since I was part of a public CS community in the same capacity as TPG, and until I started playing here regularly, I forgot how much I missed it. It's nice to get to know and respect the people you're playing with, rather than hopping from one random pub to another for years on end. It's nice to be able to play a competitive, organized game without worrying about having to scrim against a bunch of randy cheating douchebags. It's nice to find some joy in a game that did nothing but kill my inner child for the last 3 or 4 years.

With all that said, I just want to say THANK YOU AND HAPPY HOLIDAYS to all the TPG'ers out there - especially the admins and founders who have put in the work to create such a great place!

    Re: Why choose teamplayergaming?

I found TPG after I got banned in TF2, I really liked the servers and the class spread in that game, got myself unbanned and was bored one night and a few of my friends were on TPG CS:S so I reinstalled it, last time I had played before that was 1.6, a few months after the shields came out. I enjoyed the teamplay and the coordination required to do a play effectivly. Also loved the fact that whoever had the bomb didnt just run in and die, loosing the bomb for the whole team. Playing on TPG got me out of my love of T side Assault play

Great post D23. Almost EXACTLY the same situation as myself, verbatim. I believe I said the same thing at first too... "who makes calls in a pub"

Because pubs are fun, and I grew up playing pubs that were populated and people had mics and said funny things through text and the mic. Which lead me to making friends with some of them and we would all join servers together like ka_legoland and do knife fights for hours and it was just fun. It was back when cs_assault and cs_militia on 1.6 was popular. Not many active pubs out there I guess. That's my half-assed explanation. It's all a compilation of things, not just 1 single reason, ya know?

I had been server hoping for a few years. Would stay at a server for a few days then move on. Finally found TTP in early '06. I more or less just stumbled upon it. Played a few days, and noticed how nice it was to actually play as a team, people used their mics, and admins were actually present to hand out the bans to douche bags. Its was just nice to be in a server where people were always there, and things ran smoothly. One day I got banned for suspicion of hacking, was overturned of course and continued on gaming. Been here every since and I can honestly say, the only other servers I've ever joined other than TTP/TPG have been aim maps, or the occasional Sourceinvite competitive servers.

I've made a ton of friends here, most of which I've never met personally. Its always nice to come back to a place like this, definitely a second home to me.

    Re: Why choose teamplayergaming?

I found it by way of a friend from soldier of fortune 2. I was lucky, this was the first server i ever played on in CSS. Never went anywhere else because this place was great. My friend that showed me the ropes did not explain to me about following the call etc. So i was slayed a few times in the beginning. My friend was perma banned from here following another community. I still am friends with him but i chose to stay here instead of following. Great admins, great team play makes for a the best server out their.

    Re: Why choose teamplayergaming?

I haven't played css too long maybe 2yrs if that long. i first started out in a clan that played league team warfare. and it was horrible no team work what so ever, no communication. i would get soo frustrated. so i quit that clan and co founded my own. still had the same problem everyone was out for their selves. went through teams like crazy so i started teaching my team too team play those that listened and didn't have the big frag head. I Goggled Team player Css and that's where i found TPG. and that's where i been ever since. TPG fits my style. and I have made lots of great friends that have taught me a lot and still teaching me lol love you guys. Thank YOU TPG for having the best and getting rid of the rest.

    Re: Why choose teamplayergaming?

My brother Felix Da Cat a.k.a Sgt. Destructo got me to reinstall CSS after I parked it. My first connection to TPG was via microwave tranciever...SLOW and jicky frames.

Thankfully we at least have DSL now.

I'm now in the same clan that my first ban came from (an admin in AW). Funny how it has worked out. I like the "no excuse" enforcement style for all the goofy stuff that pubbers come in and try to pull.

Another stimulating post started by Morbx.
