Re: Counter Strike 2
And here comes Mischief out of nowhere...
An interesting alternative to CS is in beta right now. It's called Tactical Intervention. Minh Le (the original CS modder) has been developing it for 3+ years. It looks like an interesting game. You get to use real tactics in well thought out maps instead of just bottlenecking people into gunfights. Rounds are faster and overall game play focuses heavily on team cooperation. Or so it says.
A couple of things, though: No bomb maps, which may not go over too well with folks around here. But it does have hostage rescue, hostage capture and VIP rescue. You also get vehicles, dogs, more weapons and greater use of world objects. And while there are not hats, you can accessorize. Oh yeah, and the hostages actually run and duck for cover instead of standing around like a bunch of farm animals.
Also, if you're looking for state-of-the-art graphics, you have come to the wrong place. It's obvious they used the source engine (however modified). So, you will be disappointed. However, while awesome graphics is cool and all, to me it's secondary to the game play. Who knows, it may surprise people by being cool and develop a strong following.
I'm sure this is what CS2 was supposed to be as Le was on the design team before Valve scrapped CS2. But, it's probably best it came out as an entirely new game and not a new CS. God knows the opposition would organize and boycott it for being an affront to humanity.
