    Idea: DoD Maps

    How EPIC would that be? ...to play CS:S on DOD:S maps! I've thought about this for many years and I just think it could be loads of fun. Even vice versa too. Would be sweet in DOD to lay down an MG42 on a map like Train or something.

    So, has it been done before? Is it even possible? I'm not sure. School me!

    The main issue (among many) is that objectives for CS and DoD are WILDLY different. DoD is more about capping flags, not planting a bomb in one area for one-time defuse. The maps for both games were created for their specific objective in mind, therefore, some HEAVY modification would be needed to bring either map into the other game.

    You would have to actually change the map itself in some way to make it fair for both sides. DoD is done with constant respawning in mind; therefore, people would die really quickly if they played that in a CS atmosphere. The other way around (DoD in a CS map), would cause a huge pain for capping flags and discouraging spawn camping. Not only are spawn areas open in CS, but there are only two main planting sites, meaning only a few real paths to the flags. This means one good push, and the round is over.

    I'm not saying this couldn't be done, it would just involve modding the HELL out of the maps, and they wouldn't really be the same. It would defeat the point of making them work in the first place.

    Well.....duh. ^_^

    I know what the objectives are young pandawon. Yes, there would have to be some map customization and such, but anything really great in life is not going to be easy.

    there is already CSS maps for DoD just they dont have them in rotation. dust, office to name a couple.

    Adretheon was working on a de_colmar that we tested several times. I don't know what happened to it.

    I brought it up a couple times in the past, but nothing really came of it.... I used to play the CS, DoD style maps on other servers, back before i came to TTP. So not sure if any of the new updates, plus when they switched game engines might have broke the maps, but would be nice to see some of the CSS maps played on the DoD server if possible.

    yea i remember him making de_colmar, let's bring it back. The real issue that I'd see for an idea like this would be getting the timings right for the CTs to set up and Ts enough time to run around. I think it'd be cool tho

    The detail in DoD maps are so much nicer. Just the way they look in general compared to CSS. I wouldn't be apposed to giving this a shot either way if it is still possible.

    The dod_Dust map was huge. I know we tried getting it to run on one of the match servers before, and it was just too large of a download. We can give it another shot.
