    The door shit confuses me. It shows 56x112, but I make a brush that size, apply and fit the texture and the brush is massive compared to the texture. What gives?

    The door dev texture says a door should be 56x112 but a door definitely isn't that size based on all maps I've seen.

    I understand what you are saying now.

    Keep in mind that 56x112 includes the door frame, the actual door would be 48x108 (the inside part of the texture). But you are right, a lot of doors are different. The nuke squeaky door, for instance, is 42x96. But the lower double doors on nuke are each 45x106. And the inferno apartment door is 48x87.

    It all depends on how cramped or roomy you want the door to be. The guidelines they give you are reasonable, although taller and wider than most standard household doors.
